Hello all,
The Wu's with validate state: Workunit error - check skipped; now have credit granted.
Claimed credit = Granted credit.
Thanks team.
I do wonder if these Wu's still have any scientific value.

Hello Team,
The Wu's which were pending for a long time, now show a new Validate state: Workunit error - check skipped.
And from the Workunit details page: errors – Cancelled validation – Pending
I am wondering will these Wu's be validated / granted later on or else............?

Have a nice day,

Hello Gen_X_Accord,
Evan's idea looks good to me.
Don't think you will flood the servers;
221,150 Wu's a day = 9215 Wu's/hour = 2.56 Wu's each second
How many seconds do you need to upload / report a single WU? The server has done lots of other Wu's in the meantime.

About choosing between Rosetta & WCG: personally I think there is no wrong choice to make; its up to you.

“Cancelled, in the error section” yes that is weird, I'll ask about that.

The next WU (most likely) didn't checkpoint:
1BRS.bound.mppk.min.pdb_dock_score12_ddg.xml_yfsong_14675_3545_0
ran ongoing for 2.5 hours (preference: switch between application every 1 hour has been denied)
Ended by watchdog; 100 decoys.

Something similar.
This WU:
2PTC.bound.mppk.min.pdb_dock_score12_ddg.xml_yfsong_14675_3356_0
ran ongoing for nearly 2 hours (=processor time) when I switched my laptop off.
Today I booted my laptop again and the WU started from 0:00.
Seems to me there was no check-pointing.

Hello all,

Another RAM hungry WU:
1u5p_D_194_G_ddg_predictions_82409_006_MUT.1u5p_D_194_G_.out_14656_1_0

At the first attempt it ran for about 17 minutes used more than 700 MB Ram and ended with: "waiting for memory".
At the second attempt I changed the setting from "use at most 50 % RAM while in use" to 75 %.
This time the WU kept on running with a peak RAM usage of 1104100 kB (some 1078 MB).

Sad thing is the WU doesn't seem to proceed, stuck at 0.000 %.
The graphics screen show me the WU still initializing.

Running a single core AMD sempron with 1471.48 MB RAM
Sorry, with my PC becoming sluggish I had to abort this WU.

Hello macko,

With some copy & paste I found your results.
They look real to me.
By the way these are my results.

Perhaps someone with more technical or biological experience can give a better answer?

"Sorry, the data requested does not exist." message when I tried to view my results. Similar result when using the link from home and from account. Login/logout tried.
Old problem again?
Global issue or only my account sick?

Hello macko,

Had the same issue yesterday.
Right now the results for active workunits show up when I hit Results.

I can no longer run Rosetta as none of my 4 machines will load minirosetta-database-rev31588.zip. This all started on the 30th of July. I have been running Rosetta since 2006 and this is the first time for this problem, however, it will run using version 5-10-45 ONLY. Is there a fix for this or do I just have to run the old version ??????????????

Hello Mel,
Had the same problems:
2-8-2009 19:50:27|rosetta@home|[error] Signature verification failed for minirosetta_database_rev31588.zip
2-8-2009 19:50:27|rosetta@home|[error] Checksum or signature error for minirosetta_database_rev31588.zip
This is on a Vista laptop & BOINC 5.10.45.
I tried often to download a new WU without success.
Yet i decided to reset the project and now the download proceeded successfully.
I'm not sure whether I was just lucky or the reset did the trick.

Good luck,

If these jobs are not valid, then where was the command from RAH to have the system delete them?

How do you tell which ones were invalid and can be aborted and which ones will run ok?

I still have 3 lr8 and 3 lr13 tasks to complete still at 4 hrs a piece.

Hello Greg,
The error reports above are all about: lrX_XX_seq_score_...... Wu's.
The lrX_XX_mmbend_rlbd_ ..... Wu's are not mentioned in the error reports above.

Be aware: it is sometimes difficult to download new Wu's.

Good luck,

Yes David, if you have a look around, you aren't the only one. I myself have been trying to force a new WU to download to just test that the signature issue is resolved, and have been unable to get any tasks assigned.

My other projects are happy to use the lull. I suggest you add ("attach") another project of your choice and change it's resource share to something smaller. Even if you only allocate 1% to a project, BOINC will work on it if it has nothing else to do.

Once work does become available, it can help if you change your preferences to keep more days of work on hand. That is another way to assure you have work to crunch on even if there are short term problems with the servers.

Most projects will not have work 365 days a year. Rosetta comes very close and we're all so accustomed to having things run smoothly that we sometimes forget.

Hello Mod.Sense,

Today I was able to download a 1.86 WU on a computer.
The message from BOINC was however:
27-7-2009 18:55:00|rosetta@home|[error] Signature verification failed for minirosetta_database_rev31588.zip
27-7-2009 18:55:00|rosetta@home|[error] Check-sum or signature error for minirosetta_database_rev31588.zip
Time zone: UTC +2 hours.

Checked the md5 check-sums of the minirosetta_database_rev31588.zip:
July 26: md5: 46b5d9302d65782d7d5815301703cc39
July 27: md5: 46b5d9302d65782d7d5815301703cc39

Hello Flooter,
Welcome to Rosetta@home.
This job has tried repeatedly tried to upload. Everything else works.

Have the same problem. Does anybody have any ideas about it??

The server seems to have some problems, I saw this messages from BOINC:

zo 26 jul 2009 10:52:57 CEST|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 3745 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks

zo 26 jul 2009 10:54:58 CEST||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site

zo 26 jul 2009 10:54:59 CEST||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

zo 26 jul 2009 10:54:59 CEST|rosetta@home|Scheduler request failed: Timeout was reached

Note: This is (the old) BOINC 5.10.45, BOINC 6.xx.xx might give slightly different messages.
Server problems were also reported by other Rosetta crunchers in some posts:
SERVER PROBLEMS (scroll down) and:
Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down

However it is early Sunday morning in the USA I do hope someone of the Project team will fix the server problems (soon).

Have a nice day,

The next task:
real_core_1.5_low200_beta_low200_start_hb_t308__IGNORE_THE_REST_13046_407_0
Didn't switch to another application after 1 hour – ran on for over 7 hours.
Didn't stop after runtime preference of 6 hours – was ended by the watchdog after 10 hours.
Didn't checkpoint regular – rebooting after 9 hours runtime: the WU started from 2 hours runtime.
The good thing: Outcome: Success.

Not a Mac user myself, I searched at: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ and found a related link:
