It'll need someone to report it there & post relevant info for it to be sorted out,I did raise it tentatively here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=15546&postid=116493#116493, but no one replied to my post. I can't really report it now because my PC is no longer affected. I tried uninstalling Docker and uninstalling/reinstalling BOINC, but this had no effect. Shortly after that, I upgraded my PC from AM4 to AM5, and this got rid of the problem (even though I kept the same SSD with the same Windows installation when I upgraded). I have no idea why this made a difference. Perhaps robertmiles could report it. Cheers, Mark |

This was fixed in 8.2.8, unless I'm missing something?dcdc, Thank you for pointing this out. I am not sure what "Fix WSL distro discovery" was aimed at. However, on its face, it does not really seem to describe the issue that I (and others) had. My issue was not so much that BOINC couldn't work out what WSL distro I was using. It was more that it was reporting that I was running a Linux operating system when I was in fact running the Windows executable for MCM in Windows. It appears that this problem is affecting others on WCG and here. For example, as Grant (SSSF) pointed out, robertmiles' PC is shown here on Rosetta as running Alpine Linux, even though it is in fact running Windows 11. Cheers, Mark |
