During my regular daily download this evening, I noticed a 4 MB file "rosetta_graphics_beta...". Although the Graphics button is still greyed out on the wu's previously downloaded, presumably this will burst into life when I come to process the units downloaded today? |

That's correct, Martin. The WU must be running and you must highlight the WU if you are viewing from the Boinc Manager/Projects. If you have your BOINC screen saver activated it should display when the screen saver activates and the WU is processing. Looks impressive....I don't know what it all means yet, but it sure looks good....Cheers, Rog. |

I look forward to understanding more about what I am watching when I have it on. (Don't regularly use a screen saver, but like to take a look via Boincmanager when I have a slow moment. -Sid Proudly crunching with TeAm Anandtech |

Yes, I have now used up the old units, and am now able to see the graphics for the new ones. They look GREAT. They give the impression of an electron microscope view of the molecule in all its possible configurations, each config being tested on screen for the search for the one with the lowest energy. It leaves Protein Predictor looking rather tame. |

It's very gratifying to hear that you all like the graphics! I'm putting in a few tweaks, and hopefully we'll be releasing them on a larger scale soon. |

It's very gratifying to hear that you all like the graphics! LOVE THEM! I'm putting in a few tweaks, and hopefully we'll be releasing them on a larger scale soon. Only suggestion - % complete. While watching graphics, have to keep swapping back to BOINC Manager to see how far along the result is. |

By how much does showing the graphics slow the wu down? Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

By how much does showing the graphics slow the wu down? The most the graphics are allowed to use is 10% of the cpu. But on most PCs they will use even less than this, because the graphics calculations are being done by the graphics processing unit. |

It's very gratifying to hear that you all like the graphics! Oh, the agony. How can I survive this? One of my systems got a graphic WU, and silently crunched it to completion. Since it was one of my two systems at work, I wasn't anywhere near it yesterday and didn't see a thing. |

None here yet. I just checked my results to see if one might have gotten sent to a machine at work, but nothing there either. |

Aaack! I got a graphics beta WU, and it errored out! This from the message log: 11/21/2005 12:51:37 PM|rosetta@home|Starting result 1hz7A_abrelaxmode_random_gauss_fix_bb_jitter03_103133_5 using rosetta_graphics_beta version 479 11/21/2005 1:15:38 PM|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result 1hz7A_abrelaxmode_random_gauss_fix_bb_jitter03_103133_5 ( - exit code -1073741515 (0xc0000135)) There was a message box complaining that "glut32.dll" was not found. No mention of this in the log. I'm running WinXP SP2, and I've got an nVidia FX5950 installed, with nVidia driver version 78.01. |

Aaack! I got a graphics beta WU, and it errored out! This from the message log: Ack indeed! I'm working right now to alter the graphics so that this won't be an issue any more. Sorry for the inconvenience. Believe me, nobody wants the graphics going out (smoothly) to everybody more than I do. |

Aaack! I got a graphics beta WU, and it errored out! This from the message log: Jack, I'm a long time Open GL hack, four years working on Open GL drivers in the late 90's and early 2000's. Is there any help whatsoever that I can offer in the quest to resolve the glut32.dll issue? Meaning are there functions in glut32 that you're calling that could be handed to me for local implementation (or something). |
