I have 271 hours to completion and I more than meet the minimum standard setup for the project but still won't finish the WU for at least 11 days working non-stop only on the Rosetta WU, not the 7 it's set for. In actuality it'll take much longer due to other BOINC projects on the computer as well.

We are working on an optimized app version for Windows. It should be available soon. We are in the Beta phase - we have been testing on UW's Housing and Food Services computers for the last couple of months.

Sounds good. In the mean time, do you wish us to abort the WU's that have these long times or just turn them in late?

I would just abort them and wait until the new app comes. I will try to get it up on the server this weekend.

The Windows WU's take 50 hours on a 700mhz p3. . and about 15 hours on a modern cpu. For some reason it gives really high complete times at the beginning. If you search through the HFS computers completed result times, it should give you a good idea where you'll end up.

Oh, wait. I just have a 6.67% ready indication after 30 minutes. That would mean 8 hours in total if the % complete indication is accurate. So I'll let it run until finished anyway.

My first WU shows 156:18:34 to completion time... but as the CPU time increases the completion time is stuck and still shows %0.00 progress. Time to abort until this gets fixed.

No need to abort, Misfit. The % indication seems to progress in large steps. Mine took about 30 minutes before updating from 0 to 6.67%. Now I'm 6.5 hours and 53.33% far.

Hi Tutta55!
That's reassuring.
My first workunit say 173 Hours to complete. It'll start processing in about 6.45 hours.

Yes, the timings are all over the place. Starts high, drops dramatically, then creeps up again, then down, then who knows. The % seems to "stick" for long periods. The guys here have some work to do methinks.

If you browse the statistics page and find a few computers similar to yours, then look at their results it will help you get an idea, although again, the time to completion for finished units seems to vary a lot.

I'm running a 3.2GHz HT P-IV and looking at "Over - Success" results, these can take anything from 30,000 seconds to over 100,000.

Just downloaded my first WU.....nice to have another new project to try out.
Hope I can crunching something that's proves useful.

Got an estimated crunch time of 142 hours (judging by other posts, it should be less than that - running an Athlon 2800 with 1.5G RAM) and a deadline of 2nd October.....should be plenty of time.
