Message 97400 - Posted: 15 Jun 2020, 15:48:47 UTC - in response to Message 97398.

After noticing a couple of completed Einstein units also well overdue and looking at the forum there, this seemed likely to be the same issue
of certification expiry that started to affect all projects on devices using BOINC below 7.10 since the last couple of weeks or so.
See https://einsteinathome.org/content/upcoming-ssltls-security-updates-old-boinc-client-support.
I then found and installed an android download for 7.16.5 from https://boinc.apk.cafe/ which seemed to overcome this ok.
[Caveat: alternatives may not yet have been beta tested enough for the store, and not being via the store is supposedly with greater risk ]

Followup - Seems there are other issues with 7.16.5 on Android with units not running.
Will uninstall this and give the phone a rest until perhaps an Android version becomes available that will run ok.

We're all in the same boat, dude. The only WUs going out rn appear to be resends.

Indeed. My android phone is now doing 100% open pandemics work. It has been that way for a while.

But more recently rosetta work for my other computers has dried up.

I guess that we can celebrate the fact that we have got through all the rosetta stuff for the time being and hope that our work has been useful.

I'm getting 50% resends and 50% new work. Big batch of fresh WU's just dropped a little while ago. DL_energy_landscape_fragment naming scheme.

yep, I managed to snag a few of those. Went through them rather quickly though - so I'm mainly getting resends right now.

During the drought it might make sense to bump your WU times up. That way if you get enough work to fill your CPU's they can crunch longer and provide more data back. If there's a massive release of new WU's and the drought ends you can always go back to the standard 8hr once WU's are plentiful again.

I bumped my runtime from 8 hours to 12, just kicked in today. I'll have to wait and see how it goes. I have a large queue of World Community Grid in the interim.

I did exactly the same on Wednesday, allowing one of my systems to still be finishing one task (out of 8 cores) just as the fresh supply arrived.
Not a moment too soon.

I've refilled my smallest two buffers and hope my main two can look after themselves until I get back to them on Sunday morning.
Hopefully the current supply lasts that long - at least I'll miss the rush by then

Same here. I had switched my phone to Open Pandemics when Rosetta stopped working on Android, but a few days ago my computer stopped getting Rosetta work, too. It finished the tasks it was working on, and then said there are no new tasks available. But the server status says:

As of 30 Jun 2020, 19:06:15 UTC [ Scheduler running ]
Total queued jobs: 5,184,816
In progress: 648,852
Successes last 24h: 479,066
Credits last 24h : 108,511,581

So it seems like other people are still getting new tasks? So, what's going on???

Good morning. There are no new tasks in the server. The issue started no later than on Sunday afternoon (probably sooner). Any update on this?

Same here. I thought it was an attempt to force me to switch to the secure web site. I finished all tasks, deleted the project and reloaded. But no tasks.

Looking at the Server Status and it shows 0 for Unsent work units- probably why none of us have received anything new. As to why it's 0....

Have any of you stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, there isn't any work left to do? The scientists are all on the labwork section? We're helping them do science, part of it. It's not the end of the world when work runs out. There are other projects you can do aswell. World Community Grid does similar stuff.

I did think of that. But the server status says,

Tasks ready to send 28139
Tasks in progress 432083

I hope what that means is that our jobs will resume shortly.

I don't know why the server status of this project and most others is hiding information. The front page of Rosetta shows the real queue of jobs, which I've seen as high as 15 million. The server status only goes up to 30 thousand. I've been watching the front page over the last few days and it's dropped to 0 a few times, it's wavering about, with far less in progress than usual. Seems clear to me there just isn't much work to do right now.

My computers are getting Rosetta work sporadically, I don't think there's a server problem. When there's some in the queue, I get given them. When they can't get any, they can do WCG instead.

Try a project like Climate Prediction, you can go for a month without work. It's no big deal when there are about 50 projects to choose from, and Boinc is designed to allow you to do several.

New tasks started loading at 7:30 UTC today. Looks like we're rolling again.

Some notification would be nice in the future since I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what was wrong with my configuration yesterday when there wasn't any issue on my end.
