I received some work units from Rosetta today, unfortunately on a system that was new to the project. It's stuck unable to work the units because it can't download the Linux application and associated files. Not an issue of course, WCG is back online with some work as are many others. Just wanted to ask if that was a known thing or if there's some way I can prod the client (beyond Resetting the project) or manually grab the needed binaries. |

Over in the Number crunching area there was quite a discussion about this. Someone, not me, figured out that if you include the line: 128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org In your UNIX style /etc/hosts file, dunno what it's called in other OS's since I've been a linux guy for the last 30 years, things start working better. ![]() |

Over in the Number crunching area there was quite a discussion about this. Someone, not me, figured out that if you include the line: This works for my hosts too, didn't get anything downloaded until I modified hosts -file In windows, file is located at: C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/ EDIT: Those should be backslash but can't post them in these forums |

When will the feeder be back up?It's not broken (at least as far as not running is concerned). If you had read the few posts before this one you'd have found a work around. Grant Darwin NT |

When will the feeder be back up? Make sure your device have IPv6 disabled and try again. R@H is probably having misconfigured DNS configurations again. |

Hello. My BOINC 8.0.2 (x64) cannot UPload the 27 calculated and "ready to report" tasks for Rosetta Beta 6.06 . The BOINC Message center shows this: 01.04.2025 14:02:13 | Rosetta@home | Scheduler request completed 01.04.2025 14:02:13 | Rosetta@home | Server error: feeder not running On https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/server_status.php every service is green and running... So i found this thread: Any advices? For all other projects the Download and Upload of tasks are working. Restart of BOINC and of the PC didnĀ“t help. THX Sputnik |

My BOINC 8.0.2 (x64) cannot UPload the 27 calculated and "ready to report" tasks for Rosetta Beta 6.06 . Rosetta's DNS configuration is botched. The IPv6 address record (AAAA) is pointing to an malfunctioning server. You can disable IPv6 on your BOINC runner, or add domain-IP records in hosts file yourself: #Rosetta@home 128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org 128.95.160.156 bwsrv1.bakerlab.org Courtesy to this post These project issues and workarounds are generally discussed in Number Crunching section of this forum, make sure to check :) |

Hello @KaguraMea. Thank you so much. With your link to the other thread i was able to understand the problem and read the many many answers about a workaround . Then opened in C:|Windows|System32|drivers|etc|hosts with the MS editor (run as admin) and inserted into the additional lines you mentioned... ... and saved the file. Then refreshed in BOINC the Rosetta project = the tasks are uploaded now. 01.04.2025 20:39:05 | Rosetta@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 01.04.2025 20:39:05 | Rosetta@home | Reporting 27 completed tasks :D |

I have 4 machines with over 100 Ready for Report tasks. I am not a computer ace. Is there anything I can do? Should I just wait? Goto C:>Windows>System32>drivers>etc find the hosts file then: Press the Windows key. Type Notepad in the search field. In the search results, right-click Notepad and select Run as. administrator and open the hosts file then paste the following two lines: 128.95.160.156 boinc-files.bakerlab.org 128.95.160.156 bwsrv1.bakerlab.org save the file. If it gives you any trouble, then rename the original hosts file with a .old extenstion and create a new one but make sure you do not give it any extension. So make sure to 'save as' with 'all files' selected in file type. Windows needs to see it as a 'file'. Once it's saved, try doing an update again. You should see your backlog clear out. They have a botched server address and it took 3 days for the advanced users of this group to figure out the problem. What I am showing you is a compilation of 2 different users posts. |
