Message 111867 - Posted: 7 Jan 2025, 18:37:00 UTC - in response to Message 111864.

3th of January WCG is back.

Well, no.

I was looking at this last night.
The latest update reads:
January 4, 2025
Update from the data centre: "Having issues with the physical network , likely can't get it diagnosed and fixed until Monday, January 6.". As a result - we still do not have a connection to our servers.

It is now Tuesday January 7 morning, and still nothing.

Now :-

January 7, 2025
Networking issues have been resolved. The data centre staff is finalizing our access.

All I keep getting is
07/01/2025 21:37:22 | World Community Grid | update requested by user
07/01/2025 21:37:26 | World Community Grid | Fetching scheduler list
07/01/2025 21:37:28 | World Community Grid | Scheduler list fetch from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ failed: transient HTTP error

Although that message used to also add...
04/01/2025 06:17:55 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
04/01/2025 06:17:56 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

...and that's stopped appearing, but I still get a 24hr backoff after each attempt to poll

Edit: And I grabbed some Robetta tasks - first day I've run anything for weeks

I don't think many came through, but somehow I've built up a full cache here.
About time - it's freeezing where I'm sitting atm

If you want tasks to use power to keep you warm, I've found PrimeGrid tasks especially useful for that. That project has programs set up to create new tasks automatically for many of their subprojects when needed, so these subprojects can continue without human attention at the server. Both CPU and GPU tasks available.

I'm still waiting to upload my last batch of WCG results.

My 12 WCG MCM2 results went up this afternoon, but the web site is not yet fully functional. I could not send up the process complete information, nor did lots of the other stuff on the web site work.

I was joking a little. I wouldn't waste a second on projects like Primegrid, harmless as it is, just to generate heat.
And I say that having had to replace my gas boiler just one month ago. The new one's pretty good tbf.

I've moved on slightly with WCG, but similarly been unable to upload tasks just yet

08/01/2025 12:10:01 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request to https://scheduler.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi failed: HTTP service unavailable

On the plus-side, the 24hr backoff has reduced to ~15mins so they should go up soon if some people have already been successful.

And I've returned my first lot of Robetta tasks and refilled my cache again, so things are looking good on my first priority project.
We're in the home straight by the look of things <phew>

I forgot to mention when I wrote the above, as soon as I saw my cache had refilled, I also saw boinc-process server went down again...

Seems to have lurched erect, only to topple again (not unlike WCG apparently, DENIS is consistent though...consistently dead).

Not sure which way to turn for the best atm
Front page is finally updated and 3million tasks are showing!
Boinc-process is still down for the moment though
