For those of you interested in other BOINC projects:

collatz has shut down, and expects a few months before it is ready to restart.

SETI@home has shut down, and plans to restart only when they get a new source of data.

cosmology@home appears to have a server problem - they've been unreachable for about a day.

RNA World stopped creating workunits over a year ago, but is still trying to get their last 20 or so workunits finished. The remaining workunits are expected to run for months each.

Longer than that. I've been trying to give back results for about 3 days. Their server has run out of disk space. Again. I think they need some donations.

Your name is in English and Chinese, do you consider yourself Canadian?

Yes, I do consider myself Canadian.

BTW, looks like the validator is back online. "Workunits waiting for validation" is now down to 1963435 from a bit over 2M.

Even the Scottish phrases The Huckster disparages were not from the language of their ancestors nor of the pre-Saxon residents of Britain.
Neither do you speak like the amoebas you evolved from, what's your point?

Modern media -- TV and radio-- have homogenized the English language beyond what people 300 years ago would recognize.
I guess that's why I keep saying I guess.

Taylor Island and Smith Island, in the middle of Chesapeake Bay within the state of Maryland were settled by British people around 1608. They spoke the Elizabethan English of their period. Being isolated islands with little connection to the mainland, these farmers and fishermen had no access to TV until the 1960s. As a result of their isolation, the 20th century residents of those islands spoke the closest thing to Elizabethan English found anywhere in the world. There are recordings of them speaking so you can hear when it sounded like.
I cannot locate these recordings, do you have a link?

I heard those recordings when I was in graduate school 35 years ago. I'll try to find them. If I find them, I'll post a link or maybe a PM.

My point is that you seem to refuse to recognize that languages evolve and that what they evolve into is not necessarily better or worse than what they evolved from. People speak what they hear around them and what has relevance to their lives. Rude expressions of decades ago were the slang of yesterday and the acceptable speech of today.

You personally may not think American English is proper, but that is an ethnocentric bias. As you read this, you would have no idea whether the writer was British, American, Canadian, Australian or South African, except there might be a few minor differences in spelling. So am I communicating in proper English? You would not know unless I voiced this communication.

Fewer numbers of people worldwide are speaking what you consider the correct BBC English language. And maybe that is what you dislike.

Well, sorry, mate. Get used to it.

Oh well, at least the rest of the server still works.

Here's hoping the validator gets fully fixed before the weekend.

an ass vs an ass. But both have a hole.

One has more holes.

But what's funnier is you refer to entire people as ass - even when not being rude. For example "get your ass over here". What about the rest of them? Yes ok, Americans are mainly ass because they eat so much.

No...I was just calling you an ass. :)

Just had Acronis Active Protection report rosetta_4.20_windows_x86_64.exe and several related files as "Possible ransomware". Anyone else see this?

It happens with all av occasionally due to the nature of Boinc. Easiest solution is to whitelist the Boinc directories.

Showing 327,506 now. My previous 147 pending validations are now down to just 7

Something else worthy of comment. The errors in my task history are zero. Hasn't been that low since pre-Python days
