Unrecoverable error for result 1n0u__topology_sample_96334_0 (Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)) I got message like this for every single work I got from project. Could you explain it to me please? |

I looked at your results, and you're right, every one is failing immediately. This is the one situation that I can think of where "reset project" _might_ be the right answer. Are you signed up for any other projects? If so, are you having any trouble there? If this is widespread, it _could_ be a computer problem... but let's try the reset first, and check the first result you process afterwards. It could be as simple as a corrupted application file. |

I also have been getting this message repeatedly. 12/15/2005 10:32:50 PM|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result 1hz6A_topology_sample_106563_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)) I will try the reset and see if that does anything. |

Unrecoverable error for result 1n0u__topology_sample_96334_0 (Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)) Radek, looking at your results, you are using a very old version of BOINC (version 4.19). I suggest you download the latest recommended version. As it says on the System Requirements page: The latest version of the BOINC client is recommended. BOINC version 4.19 is not supported. I also have been getting this message repeatedly. Fafa, exit code 0xc0000005 has been mentioned in a number of threads on this board and it is usually due to Rosetta not being kept in memory when switching between projects. *** Join BOINC@Australia today *** |

I have made the change, I'll see if it makes a difference. If I'm reading this correctly the change will not hog memory, but instead will use hard drive space. Is that correct (or close)? |

If I'm reading this correctly the change will not hog memory, but instead will use hard drive space. Is that correct (or close)? Yes - if the "real" memory gets anywhere close to being "full", the OS moves the least-used parts out to disk as "virtual" memory. A preempted application's memory obviously isn't being used, so it will be moved out the moment something else needs that memory, and there's no reason for it to be swapped back in until the application starts running again. |

I also have this error with 2 WUs: Nikolay, I don't see those WUs on your computer's results page. Can you provide a link to one or both of them? This is _probably_ the "short WU" problem discussed in a couple of other threads, that are just a "bad batch" of WUs that were generated, but I'd like to make sure. |

I also have this error with 2 WUs: I'm sorry. I posted about these errors before BOINC reported them. These workunits are 3823522 and 3823344 All completed results for these WUs has some errors. It seems not only WUs posted in the news were generated with errors. |

It seems not only WUs posted in the news were generated with errors. Definitely the "short WU" problem. The news mentions: Another problem has been identified with some new work units which is causing a 0xc0000005 UNHANDLED EXCEPTION error. These are the "short" ones, and as far as I know, the names were never listed; appear to be from "batch 205 through 209", which is the last part of the name, but the problem is truly "random" within those different sets. The "DEFAULT_xxxxx_205" ones that were specifically named are the ones that run 11 hours and fail, and should just be aborted. |
