Is there a grace period , like a day or two beyond the expiration time in order to get credit for late returns?

Yes - there's a nightly script that picks up those jobs that have missed the deadline and credits them appropriately.

Actually, I believe the daily credit granting script that dcdc is referring to is for tasks that have been reported back and encounter validation or client errors. The deadlines are now 14 days after the tasks are issued (for a long time previously the deadlines were 10 days). And I don't believe credit is granted after the 14 day expiration. Cases where the servers have been unavailable and were not able to receive completed tasks is the only exception I can think of where the deadlines are often extended.

You can adjust the target runtime of tasks in the Rosetta-specific preferences in your profile here on the project website. If you are running several projects on one machine, perhaps you would prefer a shorter runtime to help give a bit more granularity on how much work gets requested and to give a bit more flexibility to the BOINC Manager as it is scheduling work.

Looking at your tasks, it seems like you're holding over a week's worth of buffer, which is a bit over the top imo.

See if you can ease that back by a day or so and hopefully that ought to allow you to turn the tasks around before the deadline

Ah - I thought there was a script for each but maybe the grace period one is only rolled out occasionally when needed. Thanks for the clarification MS.
