Not to be an annoying noob, but what's up with the settings? I am running two projects. SETI and Rosetta. Right now I have the projects set to 60/40 with SETI getting more cause I started with it first. I want to do the most I can for both. I have most of the settings at default on both projects. I have an AMD Athalon XP 1800 1.53 GHz 512 Mbytes RAM. I think that last bit may be unnecessary since I thought I set it to show cumputers anyway. I really don't get BOINC and how it uses my resorces can anybody help out a noob and let me know if there is something I should do. Right now might also be a silly time to ask this since SETI is having major upload problems and Rosetta seems to be out of work.

The thread "Interested User with No Understanding", last updated 4 hours ago, has a lot of what you're asking about.

You probably should "suspend" SETI until their problems are solved. Having that project trying to upload/download can cause you to not get work for Rosetta. (Plus there is an intermittent problem here that I'm sure they'll be looking at shortly.)

The Wiki has a good "Getting Started" guide, and is the "detailed BOINC owner's manual". It has a LOT more than you ever wanted to know in there. If you have any questions beyond what I told the gentleman in the other thread, that aren't readily found in the Wiki, I and many others here would be happy to answer them. I'm just not sure what else would help right now...
