I installed new version now I have lost all my statistics and not getting any new work! last work results uploaded on 14th July.
Can you tell me if this is the servers or my machine. Let me know if you need any logs and if so how to get them to you

thanks
Shirley

Hi Shirley

When you installed the new version of BOINC were you prompted to enter your email address and password, and if so, did you use a different email address to the one you used previously?

That's looks more like a DNS issue than a BOINC issue. Can you ping srv4.bakerlab.org?

Copy paste from your abandoned thread:

I am assuming MBP stands for Mac Book Pro. The servers are not down at the moment, you can check that here:
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rah_status.php

Your error message "unable to resolve host name" suggests that there is a problem with your dns settings. Dns is the system that translates internet addresses into ip addresses. You could try to flush your dns cache by using these instructions:
http://osxdaily.com/2008/03/21/how-to-flush-your-dns-cache-in-mac-os-x/

Are you having any other trouble on your MBP related to internet access?

only slow connections on certain sites, which may be due to the site not my Computer and yes MBP.

I have another problem I just caused. I thought perhaps host name was a problem with it recognising my username so I added that. Now I don;t even have my Rosetta project showing and no idea how to get it back. :-(
I'll try that fix while I wait for a reply on the second problem.

Thank you so much for trying to help.

"Add computer"? No idea where you found that, in BOINC Manager? You can use ImageShack to post pictures.

Than scheduler requests should actually work now...

boinc Manager >Advanced >add computer
I have no idea how to get it back.

perhaps if I had not changed the host somehow it would work
I feel so dumb about this, not having a good week generally so just another thing to try to cope with!

I don't have that item and I don't see it listed in the BOINC Wiki either... or do you mean "select computer"? If that was, what you have used, simply connect to localhost.

[b/]I seem to be connected to local host BUT still no work downloaded I have the total stats showing on the project line but nothing on the stats page itself. possibly because I have not been able to do any new work[/b]

still puzzled as to why no work. I tried reset project. to no avail either.

No, you don't need it now. Is it still because of "Couldn't resolve host name"?

EDIT: shouldn't be, I see the last contact of your computer to the scheduler was 18 Jul 2012 18:56:14 UTC, so few minutes after your last post. Means the DNS issue is gone. Please post your log (few scheduler requests, not the whole thing).

Not really... we know now, that scheduler requests work, but actually we knew that before. And the server did not send you any tasks, but didn't tell you why (the "no tasks send" message is usually followed by a second message, which explains why you didn't get any tasks).

I looked into my log, I was getting the same response yesterday evening too, no new tasks and no reason why. However I got a new task today. And there is someone else probably with the same problem... server problems perhaps? No idea...
