Link to download specific BOINC Manager versions. That would be my suggestion.

as with everyone else, 90% or more of my rosetta w.u.'s come out as failure. I upgraded to v26 - same thing.. I just downloaded v28, ran 4 wu's and guess what - 100% failure rate due to computation error.....

@all having issues with BOINC v7: unless you need something from that version for some other project, you can downgrade to v6.

Here some information on how to do it, scroll down to "Returning to BOINC 6".

And here all versions of BOINC, depending on what functions you need, either 6.12.34 or 6.10.60 or 6.10.18 might be best for you (Windows stable releases, for Linux or MacOS the numbers might be slightly different). But don't use any beta versions, list of stable releases can be found here.

I case of BOINC I learned, that "never change a running system" is quite important rule to follow, so I will stay on the current 6.10.18/6.12.34 mix on my machines as long as I can.

Just thought I would check in with this thread... I just upgraded to 7.0.28, and every one of my Rosetta tasks failed with computational errors.

Running Win 7 64 bit, I7-2600 cpu, etc. Need the OpenCL capabilities, so I don't want to downgrade again. Guess I'll have to park it for a while.

Any new information on this error or a fix?

Thanks!

I'm crunching Rosetta on a 32bit machine, so I don't think the 64 bit argument below can be valid.

Yesterday 27/4/2012 I was getting more and more client errors using BOINC 7.0.025.

In frustration I stopped my crunching with Rosetta and replaced BOINC with version 6.12.34 which can still be downloaded from the BOINC website.

Since then, I have had no client errors.

Boincmgr 6.12.34 (x64) here and all WU fail :-( That's on Windows, I'll try on Linux tonight... It's weird all of a sudden Rosetta's WU fail in so many BOINC versions and architectures. Must be something on the Rosetta's binaries side.

The "jumping sheet" and "protein interface design" WU always fail for me, while the "ignore the rest" complete ok. The problem is in Rosetta's applications and we can do nothing about it.

A usual error output is:

15/08/2012 22:06:46 | rosetta@home | Computation for task Tc719_jumping_sheet2_wt4_0_52765_43811_0 finished

15/08/2012 22:06:46 | rosetta@home | Output file Tc719_jumping_sheet2_wt4_0_52765_43811_0_0 for task Tc719_jumping_sheet2_wt4_0_52765_43811_0 absent

My "jumping sheet" (the only one I had so far) worked OK: Tc719_jumping_sheet1_wt1_0_52720_11731_0.

It looks as though there must be some problem work units out there. As your failures were reported, the tasks were reissued to other machines and failed there as well under various BOINC versions.

Is anyone else having problems with task names starting with "rb_04_12" & "rb_04_13"??

Im having the Computation Problem with one of the Rosetta Tasks but it doesnt appear to be one of the rb prefixed tasks, but another Rosetta task is running perfectly. I have only been involved with BOING Projects such as RosettaAtHome for a few days. I have a Task that has suddenly ceased processing with the status message of Computation Error. My other Projects Tasks seem to be working okay, including another Rosetta Task. Also, I have another Query whilst Im here ..... What happens if I need to Shut Down my PC ... Will my existing Projects and their Tasks that are still Processing be Saved and will my BOING Projects and Associated Task, whether they are Running, or Suspended, or Ready to Start, be Saved and remain on My PC so that they can Continue Normally when I Start my PC Again, or will they be lost.

So on conclusion, something seems amiss with BOINC 7.0.25 and Rosetta.

My other 2 64bit computers are crunching other projects seperatley and are not experiencing any issues with BOINC 7.0.25 yet !

Its a temporary solution, in my case, and I hope it helps others, until the situation is resolved.

ps apologies to moderators for posting originally in wrong thread

I am using an ACER Aspire M1800 which I am sure is a Running a 32 bit Processor. I am Running BOING Version 7.0.28 so it doesnt appear to be The Acual Version that has been referred to, and also not restricted to 64bit machines. Is it possible that it could have something to do with the Preferences Settings on Individual machines, whereas the Settings may not be Sufficient to handle The Specific Task or Tasks, and the Error Code of COMPUTATION ERROR is just a Generic Term used in such and similar circumstances. I was actually wondering if increasing the Maximum Allowance of Resources in the related Task may solve the problem.

I have just updated to BOINC ver. 7.0.25. However, computation errors happened with all 7 work units (6 out of them were newly downloaded ones since the update). Should I revert to the old version 6.12.34?

I just had an idea ....... If anyone has a number of Computers consisting of both 64bit and 32bit ... Lets say, at least 2 of each ... that all have the same Version of BOING, no matter whether it is V6 or V7, it may be worthwhile trying to Crunch ONLY The Rosetta Project Tasks on one of each of a 32bit and a 64bit, without any other Projects such as SetiAtHome. And use Multiple Projects including RosettaAtHome and SetiAtHome and whatever else you are using on the other Computers. Another thing to try, is Launch an Additional BOING MANAGER, and Run RosettaAt Home on That one without any other Projects.

Been there done that and the version 7 of Boinc DID NOT WORK!! The ONLY thing that worked for me was to revert to version 6 of Boinc AND to stop ALL gpu crunching too. I have multiple pc's, both 32 and 64 bit all running the same version of Boinc, except for a couple, and Rosetta DID NOT WORK!! The units crunched fine but when the results were sent back the Server said 'fooled you you spent time crunching for NOTHING!!' The problems do NOT seem to be on the Users end but instead on the Servers end. The unit finishes crunching and sends back the result and THEN the Server says NOPE! I THINK there must be something in version 7 of Boinc that the Rosie Servers are not recognizing that is causing the problems. ALTHOUGH it DOES work for some people, not many, but a few people do seem to be crunching with version 7 AND getting credits. I don't remember the name of the Beta Project here but ALL of those units work just fine, but the SAME people crunch here at Rosie and it DOES NOT WORK!!! That points to a Server side problem and NOT a user problem!! People CAN crunch for the Beta with ANY Boinc version 7 they like and IT WORKS FINE, but come here to Rosie and NADA!!! THAT does NOT indicate OUR pc's are at fault!!

I've upgraded two machines to BOINC 7.0.28 (x64) and both are working fine (1466154 & 1570789).

One has old (945G I think) onboard graphics and the other has a HD6450 with the latest AMD driver (12.10).

Both were installed using the "protected application installation" so boinc is running under the boinc_master account.

Both are running Rosetta exclusively.

It DOES help me Danny, thanks! BUT ALL of my machines run a gpu Boinc project too so I could not run the "protected application installation" which means you can't crunch with the gpu. BUT as you AND transient said ver 7 DOES seem to be working for more people that I had first thought! It seems Rosie IS in fact working on the problems after all!
