Compute error for task CASP9_ac_benchmark_hybridization_run04_T0570_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_39284_424, at least on my machine, the wingman could complete it.

The task also didn't checkpoint for me within the first two hours, not sure about if it did after that. I'm running ATM another CASP9_ac_benchmark_hybridization* task, didn't checkpoint after two hours CPU-time as well.

I know rosetta's checkpointing does not follow exactly the setting, but that's a lot more than the 1 Minute I have in my settings, quite a lot job would be lost, if I needed to reboot the machine (or on system crash, power outage or whatever) and it could be quite impossible to crunch that successfully for people who run that only as screensaver.

You won't want to run the XXL workunits from RNA World, then. I got one that went about 240 hours without checkpoints, and now have one likely to take about 350 hours without checkpoints.

The points at which a BOINC application can checkpoint are determined by the application. Not the user settings. The user settings just instruct the BOINC Manager to cap the amount of disk I/O that a task attempts.

If you have it set to one minute, you are missing the point of it's intended purpose. Any work done after a checkpoint is automatically recovered when the tasks gets to begin again. Taking checkpoints involves a considerable amount of overhead. You want your machine to be spending it's time working on a protein, not enduring overhead.

The Project Team has voiced in the past the desire to be able to checkpoint about every 15 minutes. However, as new types of tasks are developed, it is not uncommon to see checkpoints only at the completion of a model. And the time to do each model varies significantly between different protocols. As new protocols mature, additional checkpoint capabilities are generally added to bring them inline with that 15 minute guideline.

So if a task attempts to write checkpoints every 15 minutes, and your settings indicate you only want to endure the overhead and disk IO every hour, that's where the BOINC preference would come in to play to help minimize the disk activity on the machine.

It is not about BOINC 7.0.8.
I changed the version of BOINC only recently. Before i use 6.12.32 version and have many errors in this type of WUs. And on my 2nd computer i use BOINC 6.10.18 and there observed the same errors.
