I found the graphic program's version is 3.13 while minirosetta's version is 3.19.
Is that in relation to the problem?

I'd guess that isn't. Version numbers for the graphics programs can easily match more that one version of the application program, provided that all those versions of the application program supply whatever data the graphics program needs to run correctly.

Got exactly the same behaviors. I posted some stuff in a different thread because it seems not related to WU or number crunching (see: Q&A section).
As this thread seems more active, I will switch to this one...

My system is XP pro sp3 (admin rights), Boinc has been updated to the latest available release, without success ;-(

Yes, the graphics app (3.13) is older than the rosetta app and was running well with 3.17... And it's the same as the one used with the Ralph project.

I tried to increase CPU usage allowed to graphics (from rosetta preference setting: default is 10%, I moved to 30%) without success ;-(

Rosetta 3.19 is the only app which has graphics problem. Others like Seti@home or Einstein@home displayed just fine.

Content of stderrgfx.txt log file found in the slot folder (two graphics app launch attempts)

Starting graphics application...
Setting window title to 'minirosetta version 3.19 [workunit: ab_11_29__optpps_T5501_optpps_03_09_35686_149997]'.
Successfully loaded '../../projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/Helvetica.txf'...
called boinc_finish
Starting graphics application...
Setting window title to 'minirosetta version 3.19 [workunit: ab_11_29__optpps_T5501_optpps_03_09_35686_149997]'.
Successfully loaded '../../projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/Helvetica.txf'...

The first time, the graphics app killed itself (Boinc?). The second time, I've to use the XP Task Manager to kill the graphics app ;-(

Nothing special reported in stderr.txt log file.

Well, where can I go now to grab more information about this failure?

Kind regards,

During those days of disconnection from Rosetta@home,I'd expected the graphic to be fixed;however, nothing changes seemingly...

Hello Admin and software developers,

Almost twenty days since the graphics problem with 3.19 as been reported!
Please, at least, acknowledge it and then post something for us to wait for a bug fix!

Thank you.

Could there be a missing file in minirosetta 3.19 that was in minirosetta 3.17? I was able to open the graphics most of the time when we went from minirosetta 3.17 to minirosetta 3.19 until my computer's Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB hard drive suffered a head crash. After replacing it with an SSD and a Seagate Barracuda 2TB to back up the SSD in case it starts to BSOD, I cannot open the graphics at all.

Ok, graphic is not so important and wus continue to run.
But if an admin say:"Ok, now we know the problem and we are working on it", it's a good way to involve volunteers in the project...

While no issues were detected when 3.19 was tested local with the graphical client as part the release process, thanks to your posts here on the forums, we now know about the issue and people are working on it.

Please bear with us - it may take a while to debug.

OK, yes it seems at last you have solved the problem. At least on my computer it again shows the beautiful screesaver. I am back to Rosetta, thanks.

Yes !
With 3.20, the bug seems to be fixed...
(It seems that the text font used isn't the same. Is it ?)
Thank you very much.
