My preferences change every time.
I have my preferences the same at all my boinc-projects but R@H can't keep them as I set them.

Leave applications in memory while suspended?
(suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes')no

Confirm before connecting to Internet?
(matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection)no

Disconnect when done?
(matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection)no

After a short while, I guess after connecting to my comps, it goes back to yes.

And I do not use the local preferences of the manager.

Well done on getting the project back up and running!

Contrary to nearly every other IT-related promise/prediction I can recall, you managed expectations rather well, even working on a weekend ;-)

I was going to say well done for getting through Christmas & New year trouble free, but the site went down before I could.

I grabbed extra WUs before the downtime on my main system so kept going throughout but didn't have time on others - only dipped out by a day though and grabbed a few from WCG to get through.

I have a task waiting to upload for several days,
ab_11_29__optpps_T6211_optpps_03_09_35686_133960_1_0

Should I just Abort Transfer?

Since it finished at least one other task has downloaded, run and uploaded.

No don't abort it than it's gone.

I have several still waiting from 3 december, but some also from 3 december went through this morning.
I think server is very busy at times.
Greetings,
TJ.

Rosetta has been down for several days so they could move the serves to another part of the UofW campus. It is back on line but I figure it is very busy trying to play catch up. I am running two 6-core machines and downloaded 10 days of work for each so I wouldn't run out of work while the servers were down.

Same here. Seems that "srv6.bakerlab.org" is not online. I can ping them all from "srv1" to "srv5" but for "srv6" I get an "unknown host" message. The IP-adresses of those servers increase by "1" from "srv1" to "srv5" so when I ping the next in the row (128.95.160.147) I get no answer. On the server status page I can't see any hint for a server named "srv6", but for the WU that doesn't upload I can see this server "http://srv6.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/file_upload_handler" as the upload target in the file "client_state.xml", so it must have been online before the move.

Is the function of srv6 moved to another server? Should I edit the file "client_state.xml" to change the target to for example "srv5" or will it cause the upload to fail?

I will wait a few days, maybe "srv6" will come online again.

I collected a little more data over in the "7 files" thread. The IP that my cache thought was srv6 is now an opendns host.

Successfull uploads request service from srv4.

So, some IP expert - will a temporary hosts file entry let us point at srv6 and have it actually go to srv4 (I mean, I know how to do that, but would it work?)

Apparently, yes, there is. put this line in your "hosts" file - somewhere under windows, just "hosts", with no extension:

128.95.160.145 srv6.bakerlab.org

just by itself. Then, requests to srv6 will go to srv4. All mine are gone now......

I would suggest that it is likely that this one upload server simply has not completed it's upgrade yet, and that it will come back online soon. And therefore no action is required. When the server comes back online, BOINC will finally have a retry that works.

To do other things risks corrupting files which potentially effects your whole boat of tasks.

Aborting the transfer will be throwing away the work you've done, and the credit you've earned for that work.

...having said that, the suggestion below to hit an alternate upload server should be processed normally if you are comfortable achieving the redirection via the hosts file, etc.

That worked fine for me! Thanks!

I think that you are asking for validate errors with this method because it is quite possible that the server that a work unit is assigned to is the only one that can validate it.

This was my major concern, so I will wait until all has been sorted out.

Thanks all for your suggestions about srv6, but there is another problem.
No work come from Rosetta with this pending status, so my pc's are stopped.
Naturally i switch them to another project.
Anyone will suggest me a solution ?
Thanks in advance.
I'm a old italian programmer (do you know cards ?). Now, i recycle/repair old pc of my friends, and they revive for research.

Not true. I had no validation problems, and received credit for all of the uploaded work units.
