Rochester - the tasks which are not completing - are they actually pulling cycles or have they stalled - what does your Performance Monitor (or whatever Windows calls it) currently show. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=1423271&offset=20 |

I'm letting my computer run for 12 more hrs and then decide if i should disconnect until some answers can be found I'm glad Chris knows what you mean as that meant absolutely nothing to me. Between my W7 Intel laptop & Vista AMD desktop I'm not seeing any hanging at all so I can't replicate the kind of issue you seem to be describing. Hopefully you can work something out. |

@Rochester - a shortage of shared system memory is often an indication that your video subsystem is eating a bunch of resources. Please describe your video setup - integrated video on the mother board (uses shared memory) with an AGP interface? The fact that your system profile shows a memory size of 3840 MB makes it look like you have a 4 GB system with an intergrated graphics solution using 256 MB of memory at the time the profile was run. What are you running for screen resolution and color depth? If you are running 31 bit color try dropping down to 24 bit or even 16 bit to reduce your video system's foot print on shared memory. If you think that your video driver may have a memory leak then consider dropping back to the default non-vendor specific VGA driver supplied with Windows - the color will look crappy but it will prove / disprove the memory leak theory. |

@Rochester - we need to shout put and hope someone with a current Windows 7 System takes mercy on us. The last time I had a Windows system it was XP and you could get to the setup for color depth and screen resolution by right clicking on the desktop. However, my parole officer made me give up Windows before Vista come out. You should be able to see the hardware configuration using the Device Manager which I believe is under "Start=>System" Can someone help with a procedure to look at color depth and screen resolution on a Windows 7 system, PLEASE? |

Here are two links that seem to get an error. When I click the "Results" link which is between "Your account" and "Teams" on the front page or when I clic on the "View" link to the right of "Reports and plots of results from active work units" on the Your account page, I get this error: "Request Error: Sorry, the data requested does not exist." Could this be fixed? |

Am having ongoing problems where work units start with either 6 to 9 hours estimated time to run but by the time they are 10 to 20% through they now have 40 or more hours to run. This is now resulting in time over run ie work units are expiring before completion. Any thoughts / help please. |

Am having ongoing problems where work units start with either 6 to 9 hours estimated time to run but by the time they are 10 to 20% through they now have 40 or more hours to run. None of your completed tasks have long run times and i didn't see any aborted jobs, so could it just be the estimated time remaining being way off? |

Am having ongoing problems where work units start with either 6 to 9 hours estimated time to run but by the time they are 10 to 20% through they now have 40 or more hours to run. Which would be normal if you recently made certain changes in your preferences significantly reducing the amount of cpu time boinc is allowed to run. Or if the computer was recently turned off for a longer period than normal. Or, conversely, if it were put to much heavier use than previously. Either event would cause a change in the estimated runtimes. Another possibility is that, unknown to boinc, the rosetta apps are no longer receiving any cpu time. You can confirm this through the Windows Activity Monitor. If you recently reduced the amount of memory boinc is allowed to use processing could be paused due to lack of available memory. (The three computers have 502.98MB/2 cpus, 255.49MB/1 cpu, and 503.46MB/1 cpu.) Are you seeing any memory related messages in the boinc event log? Lastly, I spotted a couple of download errors (here's one). The "MD5 check failed" error is sometimes caused by firewalls or anti-virus programs. Best, Snags |

T0538_boinc_medal_split_medal_cmiles_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_34616_13242_0 aborted by user. The task time to completion was increasing at 1 second per second. I think it went wrong when I tried to look at the graphics. |

I have the same problem we had a few months ago - % complete stays constant and time to complete goes up 1 second each second - wasting computer time. Happened on the last two work units. |
