Yes, I'll remove posts with random strings of numbers that have no stated context nor relevance.

Congratulations! You've just removed a post containing Braille!

I never realized that it was required that a user of a language must first state its "context" or "relevance". Apparently for English, Hungarian, and Icelandic, that was not a requirement. But apparently, when discriminating against the disabled, it suddenly becomes a requirement.

I wonder now what the US Department of Justice (where I have a high level contact, who is blind) will have to say when I file an official complaint, on behalf of my significant other, who is also a Rosie contributor, and blind since birth.

Please notify UW's lawyers about your violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act! They'll probably want to know ahead of time they'll be getting a call from DOJ ! Then again, maybe the call will first go to the Attorney General of the state of Washington, before it "rolls downhill" to UW...

OK, so now we have a stated context... still no relevance. Difficult to see how a blind person is going to utilize your hidden post as well. You were asked to address any further issues with moderation directly to David Kim. Clearly you still have issues.

The US Department of Justice will decide if context or relevance have to be present for using the Braille language.

This will be for the lawyers now.

OK, so now we have a stated context... still no relevance.

okay, I unhid the brail. how would you expect the average person to know what that was? Let's all move on, please. Penguin, your point is taken. Moderators, I'm pretty sure Penguin is not "bad" so give him/her some slack and I don't think you have to spend time worrying about his/her posts. I like the random link to relevant stuff.

On an unrelated note, we're trying to get as many users as possible because computing has become very costly now and may hinder progress without more help. You probably already noticed our twitter and facebook pages. David Baker is really pressing hard to get more computing and there's a lot of cool projects that rely on it. These threads don't really help us. Just asking you to keep this in mind.

Thank you, DEK.

This is all any of us, myself, greg_be, and mikey, ever wanted, a little bit of slack.

I can only hope that a certain moderator will honor your request, and not be so "trigger happy" about censoring posts.

I appreciate that you respect the Braille language, and have reversed mod.sense's error.

In response to your gesture of good-faith, I will not contact the DOJ about mod.sense's violation of the ADA.

DEK, for the record, previously, at my own expense, I had printed up 3"x5" and 5"x7" postcards, which promote Rosetta@Home. I leave (after obtaining permission) these postcards at various colleges and universities. Even if 98% wind up in the garbage can, maybe 2% will act, and investigate Rosetta. I just returned from a week long trip to Houston, where I distributed about 200 of these postcards to a major university in that city.

I hope in some small way, my support of Rosie over the past 4.5 years is appreciated, and helps the project make progress towards achieving its goals.

great! that'd be cool to see !

i pretty much had to use "stock" images, and "massage" a whole bunch of text, to reduce it enough to be readable, yet provide enough intrigue, and instructions on where to get more information.

Making plans to attend a wedding in London in late April 2011. Booked accommodations. Working on travel arrangements now. Invitation hasn't yet been sent, but I'm certain it will arrive shortly...

penguin must have been good this year, santa has already brought him a lenovo y560 laptop, with an intel core i7 quadcore with hyperhtreading, and 8 gb ram...

out of deference to DEK and his request for extra horsepower, for the time being, all 8 threads will boinc for Rosie...

although it seems only one task has been d/l'd and/or is running under boinc.

don't know yet if this is a Rosie thing, or a boinc thing. should be running 8 wu's at a time...

might be some stupid intel cpu "overdrive" setting, which will "overclock" one core, at the expense of losing the extra threads...

EDIT --> Ok, got all 8 threads running Rosie !

Right, I don't know why, but it seems to take BOINC an hour or two to realize it should really get a task for each core. Could be assuming you won't be running the machine 24x7 when it first installs. Part of the problem is that BOINC requests work in seconds, not # of tasks. So it has to sorta learn what the project is going to send. The initial contact just requests 1 second of work to trigger download of one task. But as you saw, it figures out what to do fairly quickly.
