Sorry-

The mini stuff was freezing my two core 2 duo machines, driving me nuts. So I detached. I think the problem shows up most in the screen saver. I do insist on running screen savers.

I will come back in a month and see if the problems have been figured out. I get the project's RSS feed for Predictor of the day, which seems to be the only feed the project uses. So, if there is news, put it in the feed.

As do I. But I don't feel compelled to use the BOINC screensaver.

I find my wallpaper good enough. Or blanks screen. Hehe

The Rosetta Screen saver sucks away about 15% of processing power (I would guess that's 30% from a single core since I'm running a dual-core)

Thanks so much, I had looked and looked and not found a feed. I have saved it in my crunching feed aggregator.

I do choose to run the BOINC project screen savers, becasue they let me know with immediacy what's happening, like when a Spinhenge screen saver shows 0% done, but then in BOINC Manager I see it has run out 5-10% of its time. This is a dead fish, and I know to get rid of it.

BTW, I recommend upgrading your laptop CPU to a 9xxx or 8xxx CPU's with 45nm tech. they run much cooler and WAY faster.

Hmmm... maybe it isn't a laptop :D

This host: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=711824

has a T7200 cpu... which I believe it's a mobile CPU. (My laptop came with a T7xxx CPU)

I have four machines running: Laptop, LaptopII, Desktop, and DesktopII. The T7200 is a 2 gig Core 2 Duo, in LaptopII, one of the machnes which I detached. D= Desktop, a PIII machine which is running Rosetta with so far no
problems.

But, and this means I am not sure your were responding to me, BOINC has them as I named them above, while I do refer to them in correspondence with my I/T sensei as D, DII, L, and LII.

I think you can just refer to the laptops as either machine rank 3 and 4 or by their machine ID number and then we know which ones you are talking about.
