Do a Site Search for Teddies at https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ and you will go to http://www.google.com/search?q=Teddies&domains=http%3A%2F%2Fboinc.bakerlab.org&sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fboinc.bakerlab.org%2Frosetta which lists teddies as shown in the Snip below. http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=captureev7.jpg Click on teddies and you will be directed to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/team_display.php?teamid=559 which shows Space Family as team 559 instead of Teddies. |

Here's a proposed solution. First find the number of points that the Teddies team should have. I got a number by starting with the link: http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/team-movements.php?project=rah&team=559 which shows how many points people had when they left and when they joined. The difference is the number of points crunched for the team. For the sum of the right column I got 8,677,217, and for the left column (not including Barbar and later) I got 2,445,063. The difference is 6,232,154. Thus, I believe the Teddies team should have 6,232,154 points. Assuming the Rosetta staff agrees to this, Scribe can found a new Teddies team. Then the Rosetta staff can subtract 6,232,154 points from team Space Family and add those points to the new Teddies team. |

Like I said in my post below, I personally don't think this is a good feature to have in BOINC so I think it is good to discuss this with the BOINC developers. Has anyone tried to contact Barber? Why did the original Teddies founder not respond? |

Here's a proposed solution. First find the number of points that the Teddies team should have. I got a number by starting with the link: I'd be willing to do this but I'd also want to remove the foundership change feature so that I would not have to ever deal with this type of thing again. What are other projects doing? |

And banish Barbar and co and strip them of ALL points ? They are hijacking teams all over BOINC projects and need to learn a lesson. They need to learn that it is the Science that is important and the points are for fun and is what keeps teams interested in building better crunching machines and competing in a friendly manner. If this is not dealt with properly, it will tarnish the name of distributed computing and BOINC , Rosetta and any other projects that Barbar and his cronies get away with this at. Barbar isn't the only one in his 'team' that does this. |

I did apply to be reinstated as founder...as far as creating another new Teddies team, I will ask the members I`m very annoyed because we had team members still crunching here who appear to have been kicked off the team by this Barbar. They were the quiet don`t look at the forum type guys and probably still don`t know they now have no team. This is an appalling situation where a loophole has been used and hopefully this will now be shut. Barbar was ruthless in kicking very dimutive figures off the team, denying the Teddies their righfull points in the project. I hope this is rectified quickly and the fraud that barbar committted is dealt with by means of punitive action against both him and his team. The unfortunate thing is that this type of action by Eastern Europeans is prevalent in Europe in real life, Barbar has damaged his Country and it`s reputation as a whole bringing shame upon it. I hope the good people of his Country will forgive him, I doubt the Teddies will. Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-) Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM. |

As the founder of the true Teddies team I appreciate that this happening is NOT the fault of Rosetta management but is a serious loophole in the Boinc system that is being looked at....I expect it is causing rumblings everywhere. However, I do expect the Management to do something about our particular case. Through no fault our team has been wrecked, giving me back the founder so that I can rebuild the team would solve a lot of problems....and I would no kick off the renegades as their points would make up for what they did...of course they could leave of their own free will....unlike what happened to us! |

This is such a sad story. I personaly think, people exploiting the system should get deteled from each project. About the inactive factor: Only one person needs to be inactive - the original founder. Then request leadership transfers, and no matter how many active members the team got, they wont be notified about this, and realise it only, when its too late (in meaning of them beein kicked). Lets just hope, things like that wont happen more often, now that this way on "getting credit" became public... I think I should check all accounts if my email notification works, not that our teams are worth stealing but you never know :/ I hope this gets cleared and Teddies get their team aswell as their credits back!! http://www.MIAteam.eu |

This whole situation is an absolute travesty. As mentioned several times so far, this Barber character is a prize <insert unpleasant descriptor of choice here>, Stealing a team and then kicking all previous members shows particular malice and intent. Scribe is far more forgiving than I. I'd prefer to see him and his co-conspirators banned from every BOINC project in perpetuity. It is certainly well deserved. |

Okay, I changed the founder back to Scribe, the original Teddies founder. I think what Scribe says below is reasonable so I did not do anything else with the exception of disabling the foundership transfer option temporarily until the team management features are addressed by the BOINC developers. I do however feel that team founders should still have an active role in maintaining their team so if you cannot, then please change the founder to someone who can. |

David, it says I do not get the founded until 7th of September so I am unable to change the name back to Teddies....is this intentional? Alan |

This all reminds me of the property law that allows someone who maintains/uses someone else's property the right to claim it after a certain period if the original owner doesn't step in. I don't like that law but it happens all the time. |

With the exception, that (I believe) the maintainer/user is probably maintaining/using the property because of the owner's will. Which did not happen here and around. Peter |

Adverse possession ?! Different time periods in different states, but 20 years would be a good average for across the country. (i.e., doesn't really "happens all the time") And honestly, so long as at least one original team member of Team Teddies was earning credits, the "adverse possession clock" wouldn't even begin ticking... --- A law school educated penguin This all reminds me of the property law that allows someone who maintains/uses someone else's property the right to claim it after a certain period if the original owner doesn't step in.
