The Team Teddies has disappeared. The team name no longer exists, but the team ID had been allocated to another team. Space Family @ Rosetta@Home was given our Team ID number in February this year.........and it looks like that Team was given all our points as well.....surely illegal?

You add up their individual stats and comes to 236,430 not Total credit 6,497,659.......

Teddies were crunching over 30,000 points per day

The BOINC server code wouldn't reuse a team number.... would it?

What is the Rosetta team ID number in question here?

AFAIK the team(ID)s are not meant to be reused. I'm rather suspecting some SW bug.

I understood the question and agree team IDs shouldn't be reused. And I agree with Pepo that this sounds like the result of a SW bug of some kind. I was just hoping that we could gather all the information about whether team members still exist, what exactly the team ID is/was, and etc. to help track down such a bug.

I can assure you all team members are alive and well... They may not be crunching for Rosetta at the moment, but regardless, It's still the Teddies team, and accumulated points, not Space Families @ Roesetta@Home's...

about whether team members still exist

I think therefore I am, at least I think I am.....;-)

If we didn`t exist there`s a whole lot of people out there who argued with ephereal beings. Course it could be a Ghost in the machine ! ;-)
Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-)

Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM.

I don't know what could have caused this. I think the team founder has the ability to change the team name and remove members. Does anyone know who the Teddies founder was before the switch?

Me or Carl H and neither of us did that.....what is making 'us' a little paranoid is that some of our team members had quite a big bust-up with some on the boards here and stopped crunching here ....but did not leave the team...the team is spread across a number of projects.....our suspision is that the team was deliberately 'removed' as a punishment......if not, there is a serious 'flaw' in your data/database and god know what else is affected....can we 'trust' any of your data if that is the case?

The team founder was definitely none of the "Space Family" people, who now have our team ID number. We dont know who any of them are ?

I still have links in favourites in my browser that used to lead to the "Teddies" team here at Rosetta. They now lead to "Space family" ?

I have an old BOINC stats chart here too that shows "Teddies" in the title and has our team ID in the file name.

Why should we all have moved out at the same moment on feb 15th 2008?

Have a look here

http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/team-movements.php?project=rah&team=559

and then look at your database....

Good catch!

If Boinc Synergy (and/or other stats sites, who store user/team movements) could make a bunch DB queries to see, where from/to did the former Space Family members go on that day, who left the other ID' team on that day, etc... I suspect it is a chain of shifted team IDs.

Even better if the stats sites could grab older user stats exports from Rosetta around that date (and later) from their backups.

[edit]Loking at the later join dates: just the founder (Barbar) entered the (newer?) Space Family team on on feb 16th 2008, the others joined later. Was the team indeed created at the time, not "'shifted'?

Looking at combined BOINC statistics for "Space Family":

Best five days
<pre> Date Credit
2008-02-18 12,780,979
2008-02-19 7,155,592
2008-02-17 2,741,016
2008-03-03 1,916,622
2007-11-27 434,284</pre>

Sounds fishy...[/edit]

"Sounds fishy" is exactly right... I think somebody seized the opportunity to grab a team with points while nobody was home... Inside job?

Have a look at their Einstein team: http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/team-movements.php?project=eah&team=320

That team also had a mass exodus to team "none" on the same day, with this "Barbar" joining at the same time, just like with their Rosetta team. Other people began joining starting Feb 17 2008.

Their Seti team looks a little more complicated, but once again, original crunchers gone, Barbar joins, then others join starting Feb 18 2008.

http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/team-movements.php?project=sah&team=19786

Hmmm...

I've started to read through Space Family's team forum, which was created around 15.-16.2.2008 for a "joint venture" of former (but still existing) Czech Boinc Team members and a bunch of others, since around 17.-18.2.2008. (The SF team existed at least since 2005 on Seti, Einstein and many other projects.)

What I DO NOT understand is, how could it be possible, that the credits flowed with their members from CBT to FS, which they apparently did, see their graph:

But the credits did sure not flow from CBT's Rosetta. Teddies' Rosetta team ID WAS reused for SF on 15.-16.2.2008.

AFAIK, since already at least 1-2 years ago (with exception of CPDN, whether still?), the credits are awarded to their owner and eventually to his team, but when someone moves to other team, the former team should keep the credits.
