Suggestion for increasing TFLOPS during CASP

Is this concept being done today?

If not, it might be beneficial to the project to put a FEW CASP work units through RALPH for those who only run RALPH exclusively and not Rosetta . Maximize those machines over on that project.

It would also help for those running multiple projects other than rosetta and ralph. Example: I am running RALPH, Rosetta, Einstein and Seti and share my resources evenly amongst all 4 projects. Giving RALPH CASP workunits would double the production of the user example above......

That's not what Ralph is for. And noone should be running Ralph exclusively and not Rosetta.

No, this is not being done today.

I don't support the idea of CASP8 being run on RALPH, but I also don't agree with this statement at all. I have run RALPH exclusively many times while the bulk of my crunching time is spent on other projects and have reported RALPH errors when they happen. Are you saying you would like me to disconnect from the RALPH project?? I don't understand this at all.

Isn't it our choice which projects we want to run?

I simply meant that Ralph, by it's nature, will not have continuous work. Therefore, if it is your only project, your machine will be idle much of the time.

Ralph is only the rosetta alpha project, it is only meant to test new applications and WUs, no actual science is done on that project.
