I was hoping the new "Merge computers by name" function would finally allow me to merge one of my hosts that was duplicated several BOINC versions ago, due to differences in the processor string (one of the hosts has "[fpu tsc sse mmx]" tacked onto the end, the other does not. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the error: Can't merge host 261762 into 543231 - they're incompatible What gives? I would have thought this should work if it's simply merging by host name? |

it's not just by host name- it's more lenient than the previous version was but it still requires certain consistencies. Couldn't tell you what they are though... |

It appears that the oldest created host is LOST when merging. It would have been nice after the merge to have the hosts show the ORIGINAL create/join date rather than the most recent. |

It appears that the oldest created host is LOST when merging. It has always been that way. There is less chance of problems this way than trying to save the old number. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

It has always been that way. There is less chance of problems this way than trying to save the old number. Host number, I can understand. However, the OLDEST creation date should be maintained so users knows when that host originally joined project. |

well that is a BOINC problem, not a project one, so go to the boinc forums for that1 |
