I have a laptop with the T7500 assigned to me from my employer. Want to run Rosetta on it but would need to do it so Landesk does not see it during an inventory scan. In others words, not on the HDD, no registry entries, etc.

Others will post with ideas on USB drives. But I wanted to be sure and point you to the Rules and policies. Specifically the second: "Run Rosetta@home only on authorized computers". It sounds as though you are trying to slide past that one. It might be better both for you and for the project if you pursue the issue and got that permission. Then all of your coworkers could join the project too.

i'll leave the moral issues to you, but i would emphasise Mod Sense's point. I *think* installing boinc with the /a option will install without registry entries though, or you can just copy an existing installation and run boinc manager for it to update and recognise the new computer.

I think what he's asking is if he's able to install the bionic software onto his flash drive and then run the program from the flash.

It may be possible, I've done it with limewire.

Just install a fresh client on another computer (i.e. your own computer) and then copy the entire "BOINC" folder from program files to a Flash drive. Then open the boincmgr.exe file from the flash drive every time you want to run it, it works perfectly fine it's what I do. It may be a good idea to get permission as BOINC has a tendancy to overheat laptops and it avoids problems when your employer says "How did this happen?". "Ummm..."
