every time i try to get work from r@h, i get the same error message: not enough disk space. i just increased the allowed disk usage to 2GB (yes, TWO GIGABYTES!) and i still get the same error. it's driving me nuts.
WTF is going on here?

Can you un-hide your computers so we can take a look at your setup?

There are three disk space parameters, any of the three could be the limiting factor. Make sure you check all of them.

As Matt said, unhiding your machines would be useful - no-one can see anything security related such as IP address unless they're logged in as you.

1. Use at most x GB disk space
2. Leave at least
(Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) x GB disk space free
3. Use at most x% of total disk space

Obviously if one of these is limiting, then either increasing 1 or 3 or reducing 2 should fix the problem. If you do this on the web then you need to hit update in boinc afterwards to pick up the new settings. Doing it through BOINC manager is probably the easiest way to change it.

going slightly off topic, it'd be useful if boinc showed what each of the three factors are limiting it's space to, and highlighting the factor(s) which are stopping work being downloaded...

one for the boinc forum.

as i said, 1 is set to 2 GB which is WAY more than the other projects use.
2 is set to 10 which should not be a factor since that disk has 55 GB free
3 is set to 50% which equates to 40 GB (it's an 80 GB disk)

as for un-hiding my computer, i'll see what i can do...

According to this post by the project admins in the "bugs in rosetta 5.81" thread, there's a bug in the application that makes it produce HUGE log files--much bigger than it's supposed to. Each workunit has a "maximum log file size" set by the admins--normally, this is way over what the log file will actually turn out to be, but recently, the huge log files are hitting this limit. (This limit is not affected by the amount of disk space you allow BOINC to use.) When the log file goes over this limit, the workunit errors out.

have you set these locally (in Boinc manager) or on the web? If on the web, have you got it under the same location as the comp is set to (i.e. home/woork/school). Also, can you post what it says under the messages tab pls?

thanks for pointing me in the right direction. i checked the online prefs, and they were different from my local prefs (like, max 200 MB disk space used). i changed it all, and now it works...
