We recently updated the web site with the latest BOINC code. Please post any issues with the web site in this thread. This update includes new features in the forum, spam filters, and a fix for merging hosts. |

We recently updated the web site with the latest BOINC code. Please post any issues with the web site in this thread. This update includes new features in the forum, spam filters, and a fix for merging hosts. Thanks (again) David for updating the website. There seems a small typing error in the BB code page. To use Quotedyou should not use (quote)Quoted(/quoted) but: (quote)Quoted(/quote). I used ( instead of [. By the way, when I was using a blue link, or just typing the url of the BB code, my post was recognized as spam. Happy crunching, Path7. |

The "Notify about new private messages by email" in Forum Preferences seems to be set "ON" by default. There has been much discussion with David Anderson (Dr. BOINC) this week about this, on the Google group "Teams and Email" thread, the boinc_dev mail list (11/20 post) and BOINC Trac. He has stated unequivocally that this must NOT be set ON by default. Please un-set this for everyone, and those that want email notifications can reset it to "ON". |

Thanks for the heads up. I turned this pref off for everyone and made 'off' the default. The "Notify about new private messages by email" in Forum Preferences seems to be set "ON" by default. |

Thank You! Thanks for the heads up. I turned this pref off for everyone and made 'off' the default. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Temporary ban only - so need to work harder :) "You can't fix stupid" (Ron White) |

I'm trying to post a link to an errored work unit in the 5.85 thread but all I get is: "Your post has been marked as spam by akismet.net anti-spam system. If you feel that this is wrong, please try editing your message." |

I posted to R@H->science->Minimum energy function I dared to url tag TINKER "spam ... edit your post" type stuff, I could not get back to my post (to edit it), I have no idea if my post is just hidden or it was rejected. I have also mentioned this on the mod's contact point, not that I will link to it :). So some questions: How do you link without getting thrown in the spam basket? Are the posts that are assumed spam retrievable? I use Firefox version 2.0.0.9 + NoScript 1.1.8 + Tab mix plus 0.3.6 is this causing me trouble? |

How do you link without getting thrown in the spam basket? First, compose your message somewhere else and do a "copy". Then post a brief token message to the message board. Then edit your post and replace the token message with a "paste" of your real message. The spam filter only checks new posts, and doesn't check when you do an edit. Thanks to the poster "transient" who found this workaround. Are the posts that are assumed spam retrievable? I don't think so, unless you saved a copy. I like to "copy" my post to the copy/paste buffer just in case it gets swallowed. |

thats a whole lot of time just to post a link so you can't even post links back to your own work units. How do you link without getting thrown in the spam basket? |

How do you link without getting thrown in the spam basket? Thank you AMD_is_logical. I guess we will just have to live with it for a while. *Must resist actually posting spam, as a form of protest* |

I didn't last long, but I won't resort to spam so... buy my doughnuts These are really my doughnuts, the picture is taken by me and I declare that it is GPL , or any other copyright copy left or copy anything you want. I made these from flour, yeast, sugar and can give you the recipe, they were baked in 180C peanut oil and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Please remember to buy my doughnuts buy my doughnuts buy my doughnuts PS they are not available in stores or from me personally, and in fact they are already eaten. |

http://akismet.com/faq/ Where does the spam go? If I'm reading that right, then someone would need to have access to the DB so they could set it straight on what is spam and what is not. I'll put my hand up for about 1 hour a day for a month or two. Though why on earth BOINC didn't start with a blank blacklist is beyond me. |

Carson posted: I have not recieved any new work since the post. Completed work on 22 NOV and nothing since then. I'm running Boinc 5.10.28. ...along with their EMail address, which will surely result in lots of SPAM, so I've hidden the original post. Carson, Rosetta has plenty of work, so I suspect the information in this thread will reveal the cause. Most likely you have several projects set up, and BOINC had decided it is time to work on the others to keep up with deadlines. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
