Tomba said "...I'll be out of work some time tonight", and said nothing about how many days of work BOINC is configured to request, other projects, resource shares, and nothing about the message requesting work from the project. Configured for seven days. SAH is the only project I run. SAH resource share is set to 50 but I guess that's irrelevant since I only run one project. Every time: "20/09/2007 07:16:18|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user 20/09/2007 07:16:18|rosetta@home|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)". But... When I got up this morning the final two WUs were running (duo processors); one at 94%. I decided to do the reset when that one finished, and did email. When I returned, that unit had finished, had been up loaded, and 40 new ones had been downloaded! |

my point has been proven Tomba said "...I'll be out of work some time tonight", and said nothing about how many days of work BOINC is configured to request, other projects, resource shares, and nothing about the message requesting work from the project. |

i've seen queues run down before, with new work downloaded just in time (all comps are rosie 100%). I think the boinc programmers have overlooked something client side, but i have no idea what the particular situation is... |

this never happened in the versions prior to 5.10.20 but more and more i suspect it was CAPRI and 5.78 togather that caused the nightmares. But also whats odd, is a 5.80 person with the same issues. i've seen queues run down before, with new work downloaded just in time (all comps are rosie 100%). I think the boinc programmers have overlooked something client side, but i have no idea what the particular situation is... |

in the high priority 5.69/5.80 thread is a explanation on why we don't seem to be getting work units until the last minute. i set my preferences to connect every .5 days and download an additional 6 days of work and now it looks like it trades 1:1 done workunit: new workunit |

on Sunday I visited three of my remotes, two of which hadn't phoned home in quite a while (since the SAN outage I believe). I was in a rush so didn't have time to look into the problem, but they both had the communications deferred message and both had a job to upload (just one on both I believe) and no new work. Comp 1 Comp2 I've got another remote that seems to be in the same situation here: Comp 3. These are all Rosetta only machines... I'll try and determine BOINC versions, Rosetta versions and tasks when I get a chance. Danny |

These are all Rosetta only machines... If you are going to remote machines, I advise having them attached to at least three projects. Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

on Sunday I visited three of my remotes, two of which hadn't phoned home in quite a while (since the SAN outage I believe). I was in a rush so didn't have time to look into the problem, but they both had the communications deferred message and both had a job to upload (just one on both I believe) and no new work. If you have remote machines that are windows pc’s I would advise trying windows remote pc. Fluffychicken reminded me about it when I was trying to change setting to mine. ‘Since the 'cruncher' is WindowsXP Pro and it's your local network, it's easier than you might think since remote desktoping is built in. If you're sat a Windows PC (XP and above) the software to connect to it is also built in, if it's older than that I forget but you can download it from Microsofts site. All it needs is the 'cruncher' to have a password on the account it logs in with, which it should anyway. You then hit the Remote Desktop program on your normal PC, type in the IP address or computer name, the username and password for the account and hit OK. You're in it's simple and is really easy. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remoteintro.mspx and google Windows Remote Dektop http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Windows+Remote+Desktop&meta= or use the Windows Help. Very easy.’ Jmarks |

(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) you are not asking for any!!! so is this a bug in BOINC? Correct. If the BOINC client does not request work, there is nothing Rosetta can do to send work. Details on what you are observing Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |
