With all the talk about tuberculosis these days, I was wondering if any specific research with Rosetta is being done to study TB, and the drug-resistant form thereof?? I see it mentioned in the active work units list for 1eyv, I even see that I've crunched some WUs with that in the name fairly recently (I see some in my graphic comparing my results to those of everyone else, don't know how far back those go). It would seem as though this might be a great way to introduce mass media to Rosetta. It gives them that "what are we doing about drug-resistent TB and other untreatable diseases?" angle on the story. When ya gotta deliver 24hrs of news every day, they got lots of time to cover lots of angles. I understand that the news organizations of lists of contacts that they call upon to interview for specific topics. Does anyone know how BakerLab would go about getting a spokesperson on such a list as an expert on the research being done to treat such diseases? Project Team, do your UW PR folks know how to get you on those lists? Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

If Rosetta does not work on tuberculosis, you may be interested in another BOINC project that is planning to work on drugs for tuberculosis after they finish their current work on drugs for malaria: FightMalaria@Home http://boinc.ucd.ie/fmah/ I would expect their tuberculosis work to start out as an alpha test BOINC project, so you should have plenty of experience recovering a computer after software testing before you participate. |
