its a problem specific to your 4200+ as it's returning lots of errored out jobs:

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=425436

The error is:
<core_client_version>5.8.15</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
Can't link input file
</message>
]]>

I'm not sure what that is - permissions issue or file corruption I'd guess? Might be worth detatching and re-attaching to rosetta on that machine. Let us know if you need any help on that...

Brian, in your host's details, you can see the value for "Maximum daily WU quota per CPU". For that host it has dropped to one. This value is reduced each time a failed result is returned. Normally it is a max of 100 per day. So it dropped each time a bad result was returned and now is down to 1. Once you resolve whatever the problem is and return a good result, the maximum doubles (to 2), thus allowing you to get one more task. If it goes ok as well, then your maximum will double again. So, if you can get a handle of why the tasks failed, BOINC will recover and your host will return to a max of 100 per day fairly quickly.

Hi,

I did have a problem on the 4200 system where I was getting all sorts of spurious errors across all the projects I crunch for over a period of a few days. I couldn't tie the error down so reinstalled BOINCMgr. It appears to have settled down now.

Is there a way of increasing the limit as I have the 4200 and another system crunching predominently Rosetta for BOINC Synergy's POTM.

Regards,

Brian

If you're willing to have a play and don't want to wait for BOINC to sort itself out you can try this:

Quit BOINC (making sure boinc.exe isn't running)
Using notepad, open 'client_state.xml' in your BOINC folder

One of the following items in the <time_stats> section will be very low (nearer 0 than 1). Here's mine:

<on_frac></on_frac>
<connected_frac>0.025022</connected_frac>
<active_frac>0.999886</active_frac>
<cpu_efficiency>0.985619</cpu_efficiency>

If any of the above are less than 0.5 then change them to that.
Save the file.
Restart BOINC.

dcdc, that would make BOINC request more work, because it would think the machine is powered on more of the time... however, he still has to contend with the max number of WUs per day that he's got.

Basically, if you reduce your runtime preference in the Rosetta Preferences, then update to the project, it would allow you to complete and report successful WUs faster. Then you will be back to normal sooner.

If your goal was to have enough work for a period of time, you might INCREASE the runtime preference. This will make the number of tasks you presently have last longer.

Thanks for the info and your help.
I have tweaked my machines and will see what the next few hours brings.
