don't think it is EU, but Belgian customs restrictions on incoming parcels. Now if you bring that computer over in your suitcase they don't care.

finally did it. got a good deal on the ps/3.

next thing i have to find out is which projects i can crunch on with a wireless connection, not an ethernet connection.

i think the boinc projects that the ps/3 can run require ethernet, ala the linux os.

not so certain about F@H.

we again interupt our regularly scheduled programming for a TBP newsflash:

My x2 4000+ should be delivered today, to replace my A64 3800+.

Probably be runnuing WCG and MalariaControl on it, 50/50.

Hope the "brain transplant" goes well without complications...

and now back to our regulary schedule programming

Better be carefull around those black fridays. The cloud over the horizon could be a swarm of black flies or tornadoes coming to make your day miserable. @:^P

"brain surgery" successful. "alta_bbd" a64 3800+ retired; "vista-voo" x2 4000+ created.

next "operation", on "quad-cora" (dell dimension9200 / intel q6600 quadcore) is to increase ram from 2gb to 3 gb (darn those memory addressing limits of 32 bit os'es), and add a Visiontek / ATI x1950pro gpu. "Some" dc projects are actually able to use this gpu for crunching...

... and the ps/3 is in the channel, to arrive in near future.

i'm truly a "frugal" penguin (in addition to being a "bad" penguin)...

with "black friday" and "cyber monday" sales, promotions and such:

the amd x2 4000+ cost me about $30 (normally ~$60);

the visiontek / ati x1950pro cost me about $60 (normally about $160);

and it's a long story about the ps/3, but the short of it is that it will cost me about $220 (normally $400).

AND in preparation for the upcoming Intel 45nm's, I purchased this case for about $75. LIQUID COOLING, BABY !!!
