Zonealarm just popped up to ask if rosetta....exe could access the internet!

Any ideas why?

Either it is blocking communication between the rosetta app, the grahics and boinc.exe OR it has just crashed and it is trying to get the symbol files to aid in the debugging.

good call - there was an unrecoverable error. Does rosetta download the symbol files from the internet directly (i.e. not through boinc)? ZA showed it was trying to access an ip address external to my lan.

I think it was trying hit an outside site to report, more then pull down anything.

See QA on the topic

I'm sure it's not reporting but actually getting the debug information so it can say what is what. The reason for this is so the debug files do not have to come down with the science app program and is something Rom Walton setup for boinc project (Since debug files are large but not often needed). I believe it is direct and had nothing (much) to do with boinc.exe.
All reporting, as far I I was to understand, is then sent back with the results file.

Would need the devs to clarify this and which site it should be accessing (It should be wherever they setup the symbol store)

I'd go with the debug information request too. One of my hosts is failing when running Rosetta WUs lately (see the 5.46 problem thread), and the Rosetta application accesses the internet right before a WU fails. I seem to remember something said months ago about applications only downloading symbol information when they need them to save bandwidth (possibly back when Rom was helping fix the Rosetta application).
