Message 49355 - Posted: 3 Dec 2007, 16:23:43 UTC - in response to Message 49330.

wouldn't it be better if one person is nominated/volunteers as list holder, then we message that person. This way this thread does not get too cluttered, and we don't have to work out anti spam encryptions.

I just created a new thread for discussion of the home game beta, and creation of an EMail list of those interested.

When is the next entry going to appear in the official journal? It's been over a month since the last post. Has there been any exciting/interesting things that have happened since that time?

I also have noticed that there has not been any new news in a while. I too would like to hear how things have been going at Rosetta@home.

give them a break, I'm it's not like they've been slacking off, I'm sure. They're busy doing research.

i think it'd be useful if the guys could draft in a grad student or similar who could do the leg work of posting a summary if the other guys are too busy... Feedback makes a huge difference - probably more than is realised, even if it's just 'there's no real news but here's what we're working on...'.

Yes, it's a good idea - there are a lot of good things about this project - and the news and feedback from the project team *used* to be one of them, but isn't really the case any more. As someone else said, giving us feedback as often as possible, even if it's only a line or two, makes a real difference.

We will be testing out new approaches to protein structure prediction in preparation for CASP8 this summer.

Yikes - another CASP already - where does the time go... Looks like it's going to be another hot summer in my office then!

One does not doubt that they are busy doing research, but this research is partly based on all the answers sent in. If you ask a company for information about a product and there is no answer forthcoming - do you politely wait or try another company?

we have politely waited for months on end, however "customer service" and "public relations" do not seem able or willing to answer our inquiries. this discourages the "public". so as "public" we issue our complaints and continue to do so in many different forms in the hopes of getting some news from CS or PR. all we request in a monthly report or so from the "company" about what is going on.

Thank you for the update, Dr. Baker.

I know that I'm not alone in wanting an update on SSE optimizations and a potential Playstation 3 port. Even if there's nothing big to announce, could we get a status update? Is it even in the plans?

Thank you.

Here is a link to the Nature News article discussing the enzyme engineering breakthrough which David Baker mentioned in his recent post in the Rosetta@home Journal (the online version of the actual Nature journal article will only be available by subscription). Also, the publications page on the Baker lab Web site has been updated to include the full(?) list of their 2007 research papers (follow the links to read the abstracts of the journal papers). It is amazing how the Baker lab team manages to produce a string of high profile papers and breakthroughs with the help of our donated Rosetta@home compute cycles. Keep on crunching! -H. :-)

thanks for that Hoelder1in - I couldn't find it. I tried to log in to put a link to here on the comments but my Athens log in isn't valid for Nature :(... Can someone else do that?
