A batch of work units (the first docking experiments) were sent out yesterday that were destined to fail unfortunately. The actual work units were completely fine as they were tested on Ralph thoroughly but a rather unfortunate circumstance caused the failures which I will explain. The work units had input files whose names ended with "map". Our downloads web server was however configured to handle such files as image map files (the default apache setting) so the clients were not getting the actual content of the files and thus the jobs were failing with download errors. The web server's configuration has been updated so the errors should no longer occur. The batch was cancelled so if you have any jobs queued on your client whose names end with "pert_bench_1263....." go ahead and abort them. Chu, a graduate student in the lab, is working on resubmitting the experiments to fill up the queue with his very first protein-protein docking R@h runs. We are very sorry this happened. It's unfortunate since there has been some recent exciting developments which include an updated application and screensaver, and docking. We'll post an announcement on the news soon. |

Kim, why are these files being sent uncompressed? That's just asking for trouble. The internet recognizes the .gz extention as binary and lets the file through intact, but files with various other extentions might be altered by some ISPs. |

Good question. It's up to the researchers in the group who are submitting jobs to R@h to use compressed input files. I'll make sure they are aware of the possible issues with non compressed files with various extensions. We'll be updating the boinc server soon so that all files will be compressed, uploads and downloads. |
