The importance of one's opinion does not increase with the size of one's farm.

You're absolutely right.

You're referring to the business world. This isn't the business world.

A look at your RAC says it all.

In that case, I should not be within 200 light years of this forum, let alone participate in the project at all.
I am unworthy..............

Same here John, but who cares I and you certainly don't

Im sorry but this is the real world

the "real" world is not a bunch of powercrunchers who jump from one project to another just to be the No. 1 team (no offense to you meant). Projects that last longer have lots of people with a smaller number of computers that will stay for quite a long time, just because they are convinced of that special project.

Folks, although this thread was started with good intentions it's being dragged down with the other few threads over the last week or so.

I agree with Matt's point 100% - everyone has a right to their opinion on the subject, and so everyone can post. Some will be more knowledgable than others on the subject - it isn't necesarilly those with the highest RAC though.

Also, you can't tell how much someone contributes to the project by their RAC alone- after all, DB and DK et al ain't top of the stats.

I think a few people need to get out into the fresh air and calm down - a lot of the posts are worthy of deletion at the least IMHO.

cheers,
Danny

It seems people is loosing the principal objetive of Rosetta:

Rosetta@home needs your help to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases. By running the Rosetta program on your computer while you don't need it you will help us speed up and extend our research in ways we couldn't possibly attempt without your help. You will also be helping our efforts at designing new proteins to fight diseases such as HIV, Malaria, Cancer, and Alzheimer's (See our Disease Related Research for more information). Please join us in our efforts! Rosetta@home is not for profit.

The discussions are now focused in credits, blames, troll posts, etc., my RAC reflects how I feel about all the discussions, my best RAC was about 300, now its about 100 or less.

Really i am waiting that all those at XS leave the project at once! but as per I have read in the "other" thread someone of Rosetta staff is negotiating with them........

My total credit for SETI and Rosetta is more or less 30.000 or more (really I dont check them to much) and I want donate all this credits to the people of XS if they feel better with them.

By friends, (Bye only on the forum not in Rosetta), its a great effort for me to write in English (I am from Argentina) and this is by now my last post.

Best to distribute all eggs in different boxes than only in one box, you know why.........

Keep crunching Rosetta

Good post Matt

My dedication to the projects that I particpate in is as great as someone with 100 or 1000 computers. It is not by choice that I can only afford one computer. I ended up on disability a few years ago and barely get enough to live on. I could eat better if I was not so involved with the projects too but that is my choice. So you see you just don't know other peoples circumstances. I do what I can and that is all I can do.

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

That is what irks you that power crunchers are better at DC that you can dream. At least you are honest.

I am more than willing to post here the message that David Baker posted in the XtremeSystem Board. Want to read it?

Jose, you're entitled to your opinions, but you've stated them repeatedly. Your reply above bears no relation to the quoted post. I'm not having a go (maybe I am, but not just for the sake of it); I don't want to see the project suffer because of it.

Can we end the personal flames be it teams or members. I am requesting at XS that people cool down and try and end the pointless flaming. Obviously some members are oposed as in all fairness we were not the instigators and have only started posting out of self defense. We are an xtremely proud, pationate and dedicated bunch at XS and when we are flamed or disrespected we get Xtremely annoyed as I am sure all can imagine. But a simple solution to it all is to ALL act mature and end the flaming and try and put it in the past.

New credit system fresh slate, please?...

Thanks.

P.S. I don't wish to start a debate on who started it :).

There are projects outside of BOINC...

It seems that the original point of this thread has been totally hijacked.

One lowly P3 or a Cray, it all helps the science. Let's try to keep that in mind.

We all do what we can under our own specific circumstances.

Peace!
!!Stupidity should be PAINFUL!!
