Great list I agree with most of them also in a different order. One thing I would point out more specifically:

1. Actively developing project: New things are tried out and new science code is added to the app regularly! This is really frontline research! :-)

Agree totally.

I'd elaborate 4 to include the facts that the team takes on board suggestions from the user community -that makes me feel more part of it than if I was just crunching (the control of cpu time(*)is an example of an implemented user suggestion)

and also that the team are quick to apologise when they make mistakes.

(*) actually I am particularly chuffed by this one as it was my suggestion - always good for the ego to have a suggestion taken up :-)

A recent article in Nature Magazine says:
Wrinkled cell nuclei may make us age
Blocking a [sic] aberrant protein could keep cells pert and young.

So lemme get this straight, they're saying wrinkles make us old? :)

Why Rosetta gets my crunch time:

1. Cutting edge research!
2. Potential live saving long-term-goals and concrete short-term-goals!
3. Competition in CASP7 with the winning team!
4. Detailed science updates and transparency what's done!
5. Nice and responsive project team!
6. User setable length of Work units!
7. Nice and active community!
8. No outages - work always available!
9. Scientifically renowned project leader!
10. Nice screensaver!

Perhaps we can make a page with serveral such 10 reasons why...

This makes us very happy!! now how do you get these lists out to the general boinc community?
thanks,
David

Perhaps a periodic news item that reads like a an interview with a rosetta user. The prople could be picked by the project at random to provide comments on the project, that would be posted in the News line on the fornt page. That feed goes out to all the teams.

1. We collect those lists on a page.
2. We include a link to this in the "Letter to Rosetta crunchers"
3. Perhaps you can add a link to such a page on the Rosetta homepage
4. We ask every Rosetta member to post this on the board of his team.
5. ???

Humm i dont have a top 10 but here is a thouhgt. My main reason for doing this is to help increase our understanding of protiens and how they can be used to make the human condistion better for all of us. Would be super to see a cure or a drug that would help the suffering that is going on throught the world. But thna agian even if we never find any of those great things just the work that we do here will help out some where else in the future

A bit like the user of the day profiles except with more direct questions put to the user? I like that.

We can put a link on the home page right away-just tell me the URL of the page with the lists when they have been collected

Here is a quick and dirty version:

10 reasons

I think you should put that on bakerlab.org and link there - the url-change is a bit confusing. Perhaps more people will suggest improvements or bring there own version.
