Looks like it's been fixed, which of a good job because there's 24k of them in the queue now!

The one vbox task that was running when I last checked was only using 30MB and was using a full core.

Would you please include a link to one of the tasks that is causing this?

Do you have any other work from Rosetta?

Here is a crazy idea, set the project to 'no new tasks'. Finish all the non python work you have and then click on reset the project button. All I am thinking here is that it will maybe randomly reattach at a better point in the server queue. It is not a real fix to the problem, but it will take you back to a clean state.

Also just for the heck of it, be sure that you have the latest VM and extension pack. Again, may or may not help with the problem, but its worth a try.

The server queue currently has 29k python tasks and just 2 Rosetta 4.20 tasks so it’s no go until that changes.

And just to add, I believe the vbox tasks will only run under a local account, so they won't run if BOINC was installed to run under the service account.

With my BOINC manager acting funny due to cpu core allocations per project I have 866 (4.2) jobs in queue and 109 python tasks. Alot of these will probably be canceled by server (missed start deadline) and sent back into the queue. So someone should have some 4.20 work soon.

I'm finding in the client_state files that python does include a md5 checksum, so it is possible that the value written in client_state got corrupted somehow and with a reset, new data would be downloaded and replace the corrupted or missing values.

This is based on some information from Einstein group where they also had MD5 errors, but used a work around, which I am trying to see if there is a place in Rosetta's portion of the client_state that would allow for this. And I can't really find anything that matches. So really just a project reset and a coin toss are the only options for this problem.

Something different. The task listing page is nuts.
It says I have a 121 python tasks, but shows only 8 tasks.

No, the 4.20 app queue is empty

I'll re-reset the project, update the VirtualBox to the latest version and stop the AVG antivirus to see if the problem will solve.

Uh, i found also and old installation of WSL (windows subsystem for linux). I remove it, 'cause i don't know if this creates problem to vdi files (but i think not)

If you open task manager, go to the details tab, and have a look at what account BOINC or the Rosetta tasks are running under.

They will either be running under SYSTEM is it's a service install, or under your account username if it's not.

Also, if you open BOINC manager and go to Tools > Event Log, you should see something like "VirtualBox version 6.1.12" near the start.

There is my username, so it's not SYSTEM

But look here https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/workunit.php?wuid=1273285416, this task errored out as well with your predecessor. So it is NOT your system all the time. It is the tasks that are buggy.

As for WSL and VDI, I will let you look through all this information: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=wsl+%2B+vdi+error
