I'd run a RAM test if you haven't already - you can run memtest86+ from the windows start menu these days.

And the PSU is always high on my suspicion list for instability. I don't bother with anything other than Seasonic PSUs these days, although there are other good brands and models out there.

Looks like we chewed up the "large" amount of python tasks.
Plenty of classic stuff though.

I think that the "large" amount was caused by the "download error" that continued to re-send wus.
Now that wus are chunched correctly, the batch finished

After they were bitten by that last error, they are probably waiting to analyze the results before issuing more.
I hope there are a lot of them.

No such task: 1427511076

And your completed task does not exist...that's interesting.

Maybe that is an old one? The last two worked for me.

That "old" one should still be in the database.
Though I lost a ton as well.

Something is screwy with these tasks.

I just completed three more without a problem.

But sometimes VirtualBox on Windows does not behave the same way as on Linux.
It would help if other Windows users would chime in with their successes or failures.

I got some early python tasks, so while you guys were having checksum errors, I was running just fine.
They move along just fine, they are big, but LHC ATLAS comes just as close in memory use.
I have 4 cores set for RAH and I was running 2 Python and 2 4.2 plus ATLAS and all the rest on my 16 core 2 GPU system with no problems.

But then with the massive download bug something went screwy and I lost 11 python tasks to deadline.
Since there is only a handful of Python work left all I get now is 4.20.

Just got two Python tasks than seemingly ran without issues. These run fast.

Message 102842 - Posted: 25 Sep 2021, 3:53:27 UTC - in response to Message 102800.

I'd run a RAM test if you haven't already - you can run memtest86+ from the windows start menu these days.

And the PSU is always high on my suspicion list for instability. I don't bother with anything other than Seasonic PSUs these days, although there are other good brands and models out there.

I've run CHKDSK because of the crashes. No probs. I haven't run Memtest86 as I'm not oc'ing RAM at all and I'm pretty confident with it.
A power-supply issue several years ago led me to over-speccing that component, so I have an EVGA 750 Gold, which I think may be a re-badged Seasonic iirc.
I'm pretty sure it's down to the BIOS and the particularly ugly things I ask it to do.

The 5800X has always run pretty hot from launch and BIOS updates have improved this with each version - the one I just updated to has made a significant difference and even though I'm not home I can see that PC is running tasks to completion rather than crashing almost all of them, so I think I'm on the right lines now, which is lucky as I'm going to be away from home for 8 days out of 10, with a few of them out of the country, so it'll be a while before I do anything with it for the remainder of the month.
Thanks for offering the tips

Check your CPU core temps as well. Also don't OC your system to much. RAH is sensitive to how fast your cram data. Python, not sure, but 4.2 yeah, touchy.

IIRC, AMD's zen architecture is also sensitive to how fast you can cram data, that's partly why they have such ridiculous amounts of cache.
Don't forget to update your chip-set drivers, btw,

Finally back from London & Turin (& London again) and everything survived pretty well - few errors, no crashes at all, temps consistently 7-8deg lower and well below peak
Me, being me, I'll start tweaking up again over the next few weeks to see how far I can get while remaining 24/7 stable

Hello the virtualbox tasks make my system unstable and regularly have it freeze for upwards to 2 minutes. I have tried to disable this task but there is no option to. Unfortunately this forces me to continually abort all of them as soon as they arrive. I really don't want to babysit tasks on my machine, appreciate if we could get this resolved asap.

Can you give us more info - machine specs, OS etc? I'm not seeing any issues on my four that have virtualbox but they're all Win10, and only allow 50% RAM when in use, 90% when not.

Look at his computer #10 Vbox is spitting out some sort of message about the client not being ready
For example this one: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=1433734958

Some Specs:

OS: Arch Linux
CPU: 12-Core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, speed/min/max: 4100/2200/4100 MHz
Linux Kernel: 5.14.9-arch2-1 x86_64
Mem: 64214.4 MiB

Graphics: Device-1: AMD Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590]
driver: amdgpu v: kernel
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: loaded: amdgpu
OpenGL: renderer: AMD Radeon RX 480 Graphics (POLARIS10 DRM 3.42.0
5.14.9-arch2-1 LLVM 12.0.1)
v: 4.6 Mesa 21.2.3

Some details about my grievances:
The freezing happens primarily around starting, stopping task (suspending) tasks. I suspect this triggers some pretty heavy I/O. Which might be fine when there is 4 tasks but gets out of hand quickly when its 24. The tasks also incorrectly stop with 'waiting for memory', probably due to over provisioning of the virtual machines their memory. This is really annoying as I now can't reach 100% CPU utilization with these tasks even though BOINC is allowed to use 65% of 64GBs. I haven't seen memory utilization gone over 28GB which is not even close to the 65% of 64.

Read this post: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=88405 it appears you did not set it up correctly.

I don't want these tasks, I don't have virtualbox installed for Rosetta@home and I have no intention of running virtualbox tasks for Rosetta. In addition, I am not using windows and virtualbox is accessible using regular user accounts without sudo (administrator) privileges.

Almost if not all of the vbox tasks I don't abort are completing fine. These tasks (early 7 October) just failed as I updated the kernel (which unloads vbox kernel module) and did not reboot immediately (making the tasks fail in communicating with the hypervisor). Here is a vbox task that completed without issue on this machine as example: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=1434171117
