Thank you, it is https. I guess the notification will eventually go away.
Odd that it immediately went away on two other computers.

Looks like you changed it successfully. Ignore the notice.

Odd that it immediately went away on two other computers.

Not sure why that is. I use Boinctasks, which allows me to delete or mark as read a notice. Boinc Manager doesn't seem to have that function, maybe they're wiped after a reboot. What's the time and date for the notification?

Note that switching to SSL, plus an error in a certain BOINC file, has start causing problems with uploads and downloads today.

As the post right before yours pointed out, there is another issue occuring at t the moment.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you use HTTP or HTTPS.

I had switched over to the new SSL and URL: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta
a few weeks ago. But starting today can't upload results files.

I see there is a secondary issue causing transmission problems:
"plus an error in a certain BOINC file, has start causing problems with uploads and downloads today."

I take it there is a problem with the Boinc Manager.
Will we have to wait until there is a fix with the Boinc Manager program? The version I have is 7.16.5 x64.
I do have other projects I can be working on, for the time being.

Glad to be helping out with the Covid 19. Great Project.

there is a new certificate file which for which the following posting contains a link:

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=14006&postid=96886#96886

Just download the file "ca-bundle.crt" and replace the same old file in the BOINC folder. You don't even have to shut down and restart BOINC for doing this.

This procedure worked well on all of my systems!

I can confirm that the solution Erich56 linked to works.

I haven't yet switched to SSL, but I just downloaded the file, made a backup of the original file (located in "Programs/BOINC") and copied the downloaded file to the directory, replacing the original file. All this while BOINC was still running.

I then rebooted my computer, and BOINC immediately uploaded my Rosetta files.

I use Win 10.

I received a reply from Jord van der Elst:

The old Android version of BOINC (7.4.53) is now effectively dead in the water as users cannot edit or adapt the ca-bundle.crt file unless they've rooted their device. And even then it's not easy.

I haven't received anything from the boinc_dev mailing list yet. I suspect that this mean that the ca-bundle.crt has also disabled that mailing list and the other mailing lists that the BOINC developers use to communicate with each other.

Does anyone know a way of reporting this problem to the BOINC developers that does not use one of those mailing lists?

The issue is being discussed in the BOINC forums: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates.

There’s a GitHub issue open against the client: Client: security certificate expired (#3789). That’s marked as Priority: Blocker, which should get the developers’ attention…

Richard Haselgrove (who opened the GitHub issue) posted here.

The web version of boinc_dev is working, but as far as I can tell, not the mailing list version.

The problem is being discussed there.

Hello there,

I wasn't getting any downloads or uploads to work so I read the post about reattaching to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta. I removed Rosetta @ Home and tried to add the project again. If I select it from the menu or copy and paste the new URL in and click on next it gives me the error message "Failed to add project. Try again later.".

Are others having this issue? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Everything should be fine now. You need to get more information as to what's wrong. What's in the event log? If nothing specific, you can go into event log options and turn on some debugging options. I think "http_debug" is the most useful.

What operating system does your computer use?

For most versions of Windows, you'll need to shut down BOINC, upgrade BOINC to 7.16.7, and then start the new version.

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

Some of the older versions of Windows won't allow installing that version of BOINC, and therefore don't have a fix available yet.

Window 7. Good news! I uninstalled BOINC and re-installed it and I can now attach to Rosetta and got a work unit so I'm up and running again. Thanks so much to all for the good advice.
