"a small 50"?? If there are that many in question, it must be due to your preferences. When displaying a message board, check the dropdown box on the upper right where you select the order to display items. I'll "hide" and then "unhide" your post. Please confirm if you receive the automatic EMail or not. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

I see now your post in a very long thread asking about where specific posts have gone. When a thread gets beyond your configured threshold, only the first xx posts are shown. And a link is provided to show the other posts, but it's rather well hidden between the first post of the thread, and the last of the xx posts you display at a time. If you click the link to see all the posts, you will see them. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

When displaying a message board, check the dropdown box on the upper right where you select the order to display items. Only the first post and the last 75 posts (of the 2159 posts in this thread) are displayed. Click here to also display the remaining posts. but now i see the first 75 posts or so, and the last 1, so i guess something is wrong, and it is not really handy. youd better make the first post, and after that post the link, quiet big, and then the last 75 posts. would be much clearer i think. |

Only the first post and the last 75 posts (of the 2159 posts in this thread) are displayed. Hi all, As Luuklag just posted, the hidden/unhidden posts in a long thread works the other way around. It should be: show the first & last 75 (as default). I found a little workaround to solve this problem: Choose from the tabs: Participants. From Your account look for: Preferences and choose: Community preferences. From this screen just hit Update. Thats all. Happy crunching, Path7. |

When you are in the thread, look to the upper right and see which ordering you are using for the posts in the dropdown box. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

When you are in the thread, look to the upper right and see which ordering you are using for the posts in the dropdown box. Hello Mod.Sense, Thanks for your reply. I'm using: Least recent post first in the dropdown box and have been using this setting all the time. Found that just choosing Sort from the dropdown box also solves the problem. It changes from show last post and first 75 posts to: show first post and last 75 posts. Thanks for your good work on R@H. Path7. |

now if the project guys could do this to every account, You set your preference for the order to display a thread (oldest first, newest first, highest rated first) in your account preferences. Change the preference to display the newest posts first, and then you will see the most recent activity, even in a long thread, without an extra click and download to display all of the posts in the thread. The WEB page for Number chrunching has an issue. When I look at a message list while in the Number Crunching forums the width of the web page is one inch wider than my browser. This means that i need to scroll left and right a bit on my 19inch standard 4:3 LCd to see all of the post text. EDIT: this is so far only on the 5.93 discussion. EDIT I do not see this in other forums on this site. |

I believe you are referring to when you display that specific thread, and not the list of threads on the board. Yes, it is possible to post wide things such as images that cannot be wrapped and the browser expands to accomodate the widest such object in the thread. Unfortuantely the means within my control to resolve this is to hide the post with the wide object. This is often difficult to assertain. And, especially in a thread where the posts are intended to help the project, I don't want anyone to misunderstand that there input is unimportant by hiding it. Ultimately, BOINC needs to enhance the PHP code that controls the message boards to control such posts in a way that does not impact the whole thread. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Disconnected for no reason I'm not sure what's going on: my BOINC manager system tray icon shows "not currently connected." It was working last night. I brought it up and tried to attach the project using my usual password, and got "BOINC manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client." I actually went to my account and reset my password and tried again - no luck. Help? What did I do? What do I do now? --hedera Never be afraid to try something new. Um, thanks but never mind - I bounced BOINC manager and it came right back up and went to work. I'd STILL like to know why that happened! --hedera Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic. |

Your R@h user id and password are not related to the problem. The message is a reference to the BOINC Manager, and the BOINC client which both run on your Windows PC. From your reported tasks, it looks like you are running BOINC 5.10.20. This is quite old. There were some improvements made to BOINC later that seem to have resolved these issues. They were fairly rare. But could lead to idle time. So suggest you install current BOINC version when you get a chance. Here's a link to download BOINC Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Two questions: 1) I noticed that Rosetta is not listed as a project on the BOINC stats site, and our credits for the last few days, are also not being shown. Why is that? 2) I put in a Team founder change request, about a month ago. For several weeks, it showed a note to that effect, when I viewed the team page. Now that note (showing that I had made this change request and noting the day it would be changed), is gone. Since nobody knows a "Thomas Mitchell" on Overclockers.com, and he never folded a single WU, and doesn't post on the O/C'ers forum, I'm wondering why this has changed, and does that mean that my request has been turned down? Thanks, Adak |

As to question #1, you will have to ask the stats sites about their content. From the Rosetta end, this thread discusses how there were a few days there where Rosetta's statistic summary job did not publish new stats for them to pull. As for #2, I'm not certain. There were some definite flaws in the team ownership processes that BOINC created. I will ask DK to check in to it. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Two questions: The team ownership transfer option has been disabled because certain individuals were abusing it. |

From the Rosetta end, this thread discusses how there were a few days there where Rosetta's statistic summary job did not publish new stats for them to pull. I checked with BOINC, and they will attempt to d/l an XML feed from the projects, every two hours, if it's available. The Overclockers.com team is again being updated on BOINC stats. Whatever was not working, is working again - great! :) FYI, Rosetta@Home was not listed as an active project on the BOINC stats site when I first checked on this, yesterday. A few hours later, it *WAS* listed as an active project. Now Rosetta@Home is, again, *not* listed as an active project. I don't need a reply to this, just FYI. Thanks. |

HUGHfCT Working on this stuff on a home PC... hmmm... sounds like http://fold.it. Have fun! The file is called "ignore the rest"? - Just defines the portion of the search space being investigated. daemons are background tasks, deamons are evil. Graphics, at present, it depends on your BOINC version, Rosetta version and your platform (Windows/Linux/Mac). And Windows Vista has some quirks when BOINC is run as a service. Aborting tasks, don't do it just hoping for a better name :) It is possible you will get zero credit for the aborted task. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |
