Add? To what, and how? I don't see it on any list and you thoughtfully don't tell us where to "add" it.

I spent 30 years in computer I&T and I can't figure out your "helpful" instructions. And this is supposed to fix some change (let us not laughingly call it an 'upgrade') that YOU made. How about cleaning up after your "improvements"?

You don't actually need to do anything regarding the URL. If you want to, though, open BOINC, click on View and Advanced View. Go to the projects tab, select Rosetta@home and click on remove. Then click on tools, add project choose Rosetta@home and add the "s" after http or simply copy paste the URL - https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/

Regarding VirtualBox, Rosetta is simply telling you that you do not have VirtualBox installed. VB is necessary for the Rosetta Python tasks but not for the other Rosetta 4.20 tasks.
Currently, there is only Python work available.

- That URL is fine.
- There are 2 types of tasks: Virtualbox based Pythons and standard, non-virtualbox based Rosetta 4.2 tasks, the latter of which is what you are running.
- You only need Virtualbox if you want to run the Rosetta Python tasks.
- These days, Rosetta 4.2 tasks are quite rare.
-The WCG client is fine and it's basically a skinned BOINC client. Virtualbox should work fine with it. With the transition from IBM to Krembil, WCG no longer offers the skinned client but rather a download for the standard BOINC client, version 7.16.11. I suggest you download the latest version from the BOINC website instead since it is more recent and has a few important fixes.

BOINC will notify you when a new update is available. It will show up on the Event Log and on the Notices Tab.
You will have to manually download the new version.

The box this is running on has a solid state C: drive which currently has 90 GB free of total 222 GB. The E: drive is a regular hard drive, 1.81 TB, which currently has 1.41 TB free. This looks like an allocation problem, there's plenty of space on both drives. Is there something I can configure to clean this up? Or is there some way to configure VirtualBox to work on the E: drive, which I use for data? Now that I have VirtualBox installed, I have NO Rosetta tasks running.

The drive may have plenty of free disk space but is BOINC allowed to use it?
Check the BOINC settings.

nothing that I have done stops them.
Having boinc on an ssd reduces work unit loading times but hammers it with writes
When re/installing boinc you can chose which drive to put it on using the `advanced` button in the installer window
you can even leave the `program files` part of boinc on `C` drive because nothing much is done with it after boinc starts

And I will also say it again ,
I have written about this before and stated that I have unticked all the boxes in the `Options` tab `computing preferences` then `Disks` tab of bonic manager
And I have just had a look at the website `computing preferences` page and it also has both tick boxes and `value` boxes , I don't use the website prefs.
so that boinc has unlimited use of the drive, it can be done.

If that were the case, then it wouldn't be complaining about the lack of space on a drive that supposedly has what is required and more to spare, available to use.
Have you at any time actually set those values to ones that will give BOINC what it is asking for and then saved them so they actually take effect?

If you de-selected the local Disk preferences, then it would revert to using the web based ones. So deselecting the web based ones may remove the limit on what amount of storage BOINC can use.

At this moment boinc is using 92GB with 325GB "free available to boinc" on the BM pie chart (rosetta is the only project running)
no disk space is held back for anything else , that disk was put in for and is only used by boinc to see what effect it would have on the disk space messages problem
there is some thing wrong about the `disk space` messages
It makes me think that some part of the rosetta server system runs out of disk space and is then automatically/eventualy cleaned up , old work units or something
When cosmology@home server runs out of disk space on the server , it sends a similar message ,
This has happened a few times over the years , and they did fit more and larger disks to cope , then later had filled them , building the universe on disk takes a lot of space (pun intended :-)

The only other project installed on that system is Milkyway and it is "suspended" as I am not running it [no tasks] and it only uses a small amount of diskspace 19MB
This disk space messages problem , I think its time to start my own thread about it and not muck up other threads with it.
EDIT - Hmmm , there is no `reset to defaults` button on the web preferences
so I am wiling to try anything
and have set local and web prefs to
Use no more than 500 GB`
Leave at least 1 GB free
Use no more than 100 % of total
just to see what happens.
it now states "max disk usage: 464GB" in event log
Had a look at other projects that I have not altered
Use no more than 20 GB
Leave at least 1 GB free
Use no more than 90 % of total
are the defaults

Recreated my account but it is, of course, a new user. Haven't been getting any work for a week or 2 but never had this problem before. My Boinc client shows 14,536,596 Work Done and 815.16 Avg work done and Account = TimL

Well looks like all is good now, almost anyway. I gave up and decided to readd project Rosetta as a new user. However it picked up the correct 'work done' and Avg. work done figures. Also picked up my current PC which had been missing in other variations of my account. I noticed the email address in this profile is incorrect - wrong character, but cannot change it as the system says the correct email address exists in another profile. Maybe something one of the missing mods could fix.
