I installed BOINC 5.2.13 on one of my Mac OS 10.4.3 systems the other day, and it now errors every R@H WU right at 20 seconds. It seems to work ok on all other projects. I would like to go back to BOINC 5.2.8 which was working just fine, but the installer will not let me install the lower numbered version. I am certian there is just a file somewhere that needs to be deleted or modified but I can't find it. Anyone got any ideas? Snake, nobody has answered you, and just in case you were waiting on _me_ to answer, I'm going to have to say "I dunno!". When I first read your message my first thought was "Hm... Snake Doctor will get that one..." My only suggestion would be to move BOINC Data out of Library/Application Support and put it somewhere safe, delete BOINC Manager from Applications and BOINCSaver from ScreenSavers, then install the new (old) version but DON'T RUN IT... COPY (not move) back the BOINC Data folder (replacing the one just created), run BOINC Manager, see if it chokes. NO idea if that'll work or not. Worst case, you'd have to put back 5.2.13, and your backup of the folder. BTW, I moved from 5.2.8 yesterday to 5.2.13, Rosetta's still going fine - current WU is 7:25 in at 30%, 18:32 to go. |

Snake Doctor will get that one..." Yea I tried all that. What you describe makes sense to me too but somehow the installer still knows that the newer version is (was) on the system and it will not overwrite it even though it askes if it can. Moreover, the very min the installation is complete for 5.2.13 it loads and runs the software. The installer did not used to work that way so I can only assume that this is some kind of new "feature" in the latest version that is provided for all the new "BOINCers". Well I guess I will just have to wait a few hours for the next BOINC revision and try to install that in hopes of a fix. (LOL) Thanks for the help Regards Phil We Must look for intelligent life on other planets as, it is becoming increasingly apparent we will not find any on our own. |
