Hi all. This version has been tested a lot on ralph, but please let us know if you see anything unusual. Thanks for all your posts on 5.64 before, too! |

Hi all. This version has been tested a lot on ralph, but please let us know if you see anything unusual. Thanks for all your posts on 5.64 before, too! ARGHHH... I'm starting to see some unusual behavior on my laptop. Everything running slow... Can someone tell me what the default preference settings are? I didn't know that there was a new version, and started tweaking my preferences. NO I'm not sure what's wrong... Help ! |

chango369 I believe there is a button to set things back to the defaults. But perhaps you allowed BOINC to use more memory? Or, perhaps you might consider modifying the General Preference for the % of CPU to want to allow BOINC to use. The default Rosetta runtime is 3hrs, but changing that would not be impacting the performance of your laptop. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Hi all. This version has been tested a lot on ralph, but please let us know if you see anything unusual. Thanks for all your posts on 5.64 before, too! Update: I think I had the memory percentage set too high at one point. I now have general preference set at 50% swap 75% memory when in use and 90% when not in use... and at least I'm able to do other things (like type this post for example!) when boinc is running One major difference is that on my system, two tasks were able to run on 5.64 ... now one task runs and the other waits on memory.... In 5.64, both were able to run in tandem.. any guidance out there?? |

Finally caught a look at the graphics ! ! It looked significantly more complex than any of the other tasks I had ever looked at. It was titled 'simultaneous docking and folding'... Does this utilize memory in such a way as to preclude two tasks from running in tandem?? |

I'm having a serious problem with memory usage. My laptop was running SUPER slow, so I lowered the max memory usage to 50% (which should be 500MB), but now none of the work units will run; they all just say "Waiting for memory" and never start. And on my desktop (dual core) I've got two processes of Rosetta running that are each using ~750MB of RAM. 1.5GB of RAM is WAY to much for rosetta to be using. I've got 2GB of RAM, and right now I'm at 3.5GB of page file used. This needs to be changed ASAP, because it's making all my computers unusable, or unable to participate in Rosetta. *edit* actually, I think this might be a memory leak. when I open Task Manager I'm now seeing 50-100MB memory usage for each instance of Rosetta. But I still have < 100MB of free memory and > 3.5GB page file usage (this is on a fresh install of windows, so there's nothing else using up my memory). |

I'm having the same issues here. My page file usage is over 3.68GB, and I have less than 100MB of ram left, from 2GB. For some reason I have 3 instances of Rosetta trying to run at once on an AMD Athlon64 x2 4400+, 2 are running, and one saying "Waiting for memory." All 3 of them are using over 1GB of Virtual Memory each. |

Yes, I'm getting serious virtual memory problems here as well. My 5.67 version crashes fairly regularly. A little more info on this problem. I think it might be bad work units actually. It seems to be happening to me only on the work units that start: gp04_BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_SUBSYSTEM-gp04 |

Has anyone else gotten any "Compute Errors"??? See this Result 82335059 the current unit on my result page also appears to have a computational error, I just haven't updated yet... |

I also noticed on my 3800X2 machine, That one of the newly downloaded Wu's from here was showing Waiting on Memory, I never saw the message before, And was surprised to see that my 2 gigs of memory was about 3/4 full as if I remember rightly, Each Rosetta Wu had around 750,000 megs of memory each. Had to suspend one just to let the other finish. G^R |

5.67 gone mad here too. HDD started trashing like crazy, so I tried to figure out what's up. Turned out to be Rosetta, which just got the client refreshed to 5.67 and downloaded two new WUs from the gp04__BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_SUBSYSTEM-gp04_-delC126... batch. Both of them are using over 1GB virtual memory each (HT CPU, both threads enabled), but have only about 35-37MB working set. Available physical memory stabilized over the course of a few mins after the jobs started, but commit charge is at 95% at the moment. |

Has anyone else gotten any "Compute Errors"??? I got this error yesterday evening when I attached my laptop (512 MB main memory) to rosetta. I also noticed an windows message box stating that the page file is exhausted and can not be enlarged ( I always run windows with a fixed page file - in this case 1 GB - to prevent windows from scattering the page file on my harddisk) At this moment rosetta 4.67 tried to allocate more than 1.3 GB of memory. The error message was the same as yours. This morning I noticed that my tower pc (1GB of main memory and 750 MB of fixed size page file) was reacting slowly to other programms. In task manager I noticed that rosetta had allocated 1.2 GB of memory and the system was under (memory) stress. This large amount of memory usage explains all the described symptoms in this thread (except the x0c5 dump). - systems without fixed size page file notice exessive harddisk activity - increasing / allocating the page file on the harddisk - swapping other applications to and from the pagefile into main memory -> why is the memory requirement with 4.67 so high? is it an error, or is this related to the current set of WUs? [Edit] corrected some typo errors... Udo |

Same performance problem with Rosetta 5.67 and memory here :o(. Working unit is using cca 750MB RAM (Pentium D 2.8GHz, 1.5GB RAM, WinXP SP2). W.u. starts gp04__BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_SUBSYSTEM-gp04_-delC126... as well. Peter |

I am also having memory problems with the latest Rosetta version on my G4 powerbook. I have now suspended Rosetta until the problem is fixed. PPC Mac G5 dual 1.8GHz, 3GB Ram, Mac OSX 10.5 BOINC Manager 5.10.28 Rosetta Beta 5.81 |

Also started to get "Low Virtual memory" (Taskinfo) alerts on two Windows XP's about an hour ago. The private (virtual) memory for each Rosetta is >1GB. The WU's running are gp04__BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_SUBSYSTEM-gp04_-delC126__176_*. |

Yes, same here, "Low Virtual Memory", on a lappy with 512mb ram, and 100+gb hdd. WU is also a gp04... EDIT --> and now, here too Also started to get "Low Virtual memory" (Taskinfo) alerts on two Windows XP's about an hour ago. The private (virtual) memory for each Rosetta is >1GB. The WU's running are gp04__BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_SUBSYSTEM-gp04_-delC126__176_*. |

chango369 Thank you for your reply. I managed to get things running again somewhat. The SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK tasks take up a bit of memory, I have two running together now, one takes 532,000k and the other 24,000 k ... It seems somewhat disproportionate to me somehow...., I'm concerned about the tasks not finishing entirely though... see other post involving status ... |
