Since some time, when I take a look at my results, I see at all jobs: BOINC :: Watchdog shutting down... BOINC :: BOINC support services shutting down... </stderr_txt> When I take a look at other users, I notice the same with their results. Some time ago, this watchdog functie was implemented to shut down erroreous WUs. Now I see that all WUs are stopped by the watchdog... Is this normal, or do we have a problem? The line: BOINC :: Watchdog shutting down... is normal. It's not an error, but simply a message that the watchdog thread is shutting down as a result of the WU completion. - Knorr |

Now I see that all WUs are stopped by the watchdog... Hi Kristof, I understand that "Watchdog shutting down" means that the watchdog process itself is terminated, not that it is actively terminating the WU. In other words: the watchdogs stays turned on as long as the WU is still crunching data. When the WU is finished because the preset time is reached the watchdog stops its work too. This way it can detect anything going wrong during crunching. Kind of like your antivirus programm should be among the first applications running when starting the OS and among the last to terminate when you shut down the machine to make sure that it supervises anything that goes on in between. Regards, Christoph |
