I am a Rosetta cruncher and I run, and have always run, stock BOINC clients and stock crunching apps. I follow my stats across BOINC projects daily on sites like BOINCstats and my team page, BOINC Synergy. Will these stats sites incorporate this new credit system I hear about, or the old? I'm not sure how much this affects me directly since, like I said, I have always used stock apps. But this would change other peoples' and thus my position relative to them. |

Matt, You're right. That's why some people ask to have a uniform credit system to be able to see their contributions to the project and compare themselves to others. |

My understanding is that the current boinc stats will continue to be exported for the immediate future, and the 'work' stats will be there as extra information. Once things have settled down, and the bugs worked out, the exported stats may eventually be changed to reflect the new work stats. As a wild generalisation - * P4/XP users will have their work credit increased significantly compared to boinc credits * AMD/XP users work credits will roughly match boinc credits * P4/Linux users will have their work credit increased dramatically compared to boinc credits * AND/Linux users will have their work credits increased significantly compared to boinc credits * Optimised client users credits will vary. If they had originally been adjusted so that boinc credits matched an equivalent AMD/XP setup, then their boinc credits would approximately match the work credits. The majority of people will find that their work credits will be higher than boinc credits, and also will be approximately matching the credits/hour that other projects give. In all cases, work credit will (should...) reflect the actual amount of science work carried out for the project. |

I am a Rosetta cruncher and I run, and have always run, stock BOINC clients and stock crunching apps. I assume the stats sites won't be affected (at least not in the near-future). It's not just optimised clients that are affected in the new system though - the benchmark isn't that well aligned with the crunching, so everyone's credits will be affected in the new system. It looks like P4s and Linux users have been short-changed so their scores will probably increase. |

David Baker just said, in another thread: "Until then, the old system will be used for reporting to stats sites and reporting on our web site." So that answers our question. Just for the record, I'm not taking sides on with point system is used. I'm simply curious. |
