Using Linux have only had "Computation errors" and using my Valuable Time Linux is definitely supported as there are a lot of Linux boxes completing work. Try posting your detailed errors in the Linux questions and answers section. Some other Linux users may be able to help. Of course David Kim has also said he will look into it when he gets back from vacation, so help is available. (David K, for a guy on vacation you are spending a lot of time on the forum. Using Linux have only had "Computation errors" Sluger1138, I brought my system up on linux and tried crunching Rosetta. I haven't had a single problem with any of the five WU's I've done so far. The project definately supports linux platforms. Can you give us a little more information about your system and what's happening when you see these errors occur? |

Mine took about 36 hours on a 1200 mhz AMD with WinXP and 512 ram. Fixed Problem and am swimming alomg just fine.Just cannot exit Boinc.Plain and simple.Works great.Love the Project,will become Premiere "Experiment" shortly. New WUs take much more time to finishing, between 6-9h on my P4 3,2 HT. Is there a difference with old ones (3-5h)? |

Is there any way to increase the "Time to Completion" that the BOINC manager shows for these units now that they are taking twice as long to process? They show up as 4:27:09 on my system, how about doubling the time? This would be alot closer to what the units actually take. |

Work units used to take about 3.5-4.5 hours to complete. Last unit 1acf_abrelax_no_cst_08156_0 took about 8-9 hours. current unit 1acf_abrelax_07909_0 is 4:32:03 into unit, 0% complete. |

Ok, unit just got un-preempted and is running - is at 4:33:37, and 58.33%. seems weird to jump like that... |

They do seem to have gotten longer! Rosetta's work units vary in length, depending on which protein we're modelling, or that's my understanding of it anyway. I have had some "1acf" units as well and they took quite a long time. But since then I've had "1bmb" work units, which don't take anywhere near as long. The "1pva" ones we had before took very little time (typically 1.5 hours on my Athlon XP 3000+) Takes a bit of getting used to, especially when the progress bar doesn't move for a long time. *** Join BOINC@Australia today *** |
