hi, I would like to know if along-side other diseases, there's currently a research being done which is related to ALS? I haven't seen any sign of any involving Rosetta@home, but one of my neighbors recently asked me to do a web search for information that might help one of her relatives with ALS. Research information: Coffee Beneficial for Males, Not Females, With ALS http://www.medindia.net/news/Coffee-Beneficial-for-Males-Not-Females-With-ALS-50168-1.htm Computer Screening Uncovers Compounds Against ALS http://focus.hms.harvard.edu/2005/Mar11_2005/drug_discovery.shtml [Clinical trials of ultra-high-dose methylcobalamin in ALS] http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17969354 Since the research was done in Japan, where methylcobalamin is the form of vitamin B12 normally used in vitamin B12 supplements, it's not clear if the cyanocobalamin form normally used for vitamin B12 supplements in the US will produce the same results for everyone. Indicates that the form they tested will slow down, but not stop, ALS. Has a few links to other research papers on ALS. Other ALS-related sites: Living With ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis http://www.al.com/specialreport/huntsvilletimes/index.ssf?als.html ALS Forum http://www.als.net/forum/default.aspx?g=forum I haven't checked if the ironjustice posting there is the same ironjustice I've seen posting elsewhere about his idea that excess iron in the blood is the major cause of diabetes, but with inadequate scientific backing. For the few with hemochromatosis, this appears to be true; but I've been unable to find any scientific reports saying this is also true for the others with diabetes. Algae does a Body Good http://www.dearpharmacist.com/astaxanthin.html Trying to sell something, often a sign that the site is not the most trustworthy.
