Is it just me, or is the new client (4.79) using a good 50% more memory than ver 4.78?

That's a step in the wrong direction, in my opinion.

Same here - peak memory usage 75MB (about 60% progress). Can't see other differences...
I suspect it has something to do with the planned built-in graphics - https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=252

Yes and no.

Virtual size jumped from ~100 Mb to ~150 Mb, but we really don't care about that. That simply equates to about 50 more megs of swap file being allocated.

What you care about is the Working set size, and that DID take a bit of a jump, up by about ~10Mb from ~50 to ~60 Mb.

Those numbers from both a Linux system and a Windows, the two run about the same memory usage (not too surprisingly).

Keep in mind that the memory use is also dependent on the protein and the particular method we are testing.
