Your personal background.
Hey, my name is Max. I'm a student from Germany who started crunching for distributed computing in 2008. At first I joined ClimatePrediction.net. Later I discovered more projects like the World Community Grid and Rosetta@home. In 2009 I joined the community of Rechenkraft.net and the non profit association Rechenkraft.net e.V.. It was founded in 2005 to promote distributed computing:

  • We tell other people about DC.
  • We answer questions regarding DC and the scientific background in forums, email and chat.
  • We prepare a book about DC.
  • We run a DC Project: RNA World
  • We crunch with all power we have. (Team Stats)
  • And we have fun discussing DC, science and more and meet in real life.

Join us, we are open for everyone and each distributed computing project.

Your opinions about Rosetta@home
I believe that Rosetta@home is one of the most useful applications of distributed computing. A huge amount of books and articles related to Rosetta@home indicates the benefit of the project to science.

The program runs stable and there is always work to do. The homepage offers a good amount of background information and as far as I can tell the community is quite active.

My overall experience is really nice around here. This is why I dedicate most of my resources to this project.
