GridCoin is a new peer-to-peer internet based cryptocurrency that aims to provide real benefits to humanity by compensating the coin miners for participating in BOINC projects that may lead to advances in medicine, biology, mathematics, science, climatology, and astrophysics by concentrating a large percentage of the computational power towards BOINC research - instead of generating unnecessary heat and wasted power for the proof of work algorithms required to keep the coin network running. It is estimated that bitcoin is using approximately 23,312 megawatt hours per day (see electric consumption at blockchain.info/stats (24 hour stats)) of electric for block solving algorithms. The aim of the gridcoin project is to shift the computational power primarily to Boinc projects while the mining operations become a second priority - so as the network is scaled up, boinc utilization is scaled up in tandem. The coin miners will be rewarded with a small token subsidy if they fail to mine boinc shares, but a much larger subsidy when mining with boinc. This digital cryptocurrency allows instant peer to peer transactions, worldwide payments and very low processing fees. The source code is open source and allows everyone to take part in the success of the currency. Gridcoin is based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs from Bitcoin in that it can be efficiently mined with consumer-grade hardware, therefore is not as likely to be replaced by specialized ASIC mining chips in the future. Gridcoin provides faster transaction confirmations (2.5 minutes on average) and uses memory intensive scrypt-based proof-of-work algorithms to verify transactions.

Kölcsey’s poem, written in 1823, is set in the 17th century when Hungary was torn into three parts: the independent Hungarian principality in Transylvania, the Turkish occupied central Hungary and the remaining Austrian royal (Habsburg) areas in the north and the west. The subtitle of the poem is ‘A magyar nép zivataros századaiból’ meaning approximately ‘From the Stormy Centuries of the Hungarian People’.

The anthem was adopted in 1844, while Hungary was still a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The title of the Hungarian anthem is often (incorrectly) given as the first line of the anthem,”Isten, áldd meg a magyart”, but the title of the poem (“Himnusz”) is the official title of the anthem. While the poem has eight verses, it is almost always just the first verse that is performed, yet the entire poem remains the official anthem.

Also widely used in Hungary, but not an official national anthem, is the song “Szózat”, which can be described as the “national song” and is often sung in national celebrations. During the first years of Communist rule, it was debated by the legislators of the time to replace “Himnusz” with “Szózat, as Himnusz is a prayer and Hungary, under Communist rule, was officially atheist, but this was never done. Instead, it was often performed without the words.

The goal of the Horváth Csaba Memorial Laboratory of Bioseparation Sciences is to expand the scope of novel innovative and high performance bioanalytical techniques in the fields of medicine and life sciences, using high performance single- and multi-dimensional separation methods, such as liquid chromatography (HPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), capillary electrochromatography (CEC) and microfabricated devices preferably connected to mass spectroscopy (MS). The requirement is engendered by the recent need to study global changes in expression of nucleic acids (genomics), proteins (proteomics) and important post translational modifications such as glycosylation (glycomics). One of the main focuses of our research program is the establishment of a solid theoretical understanding of the physico-chemical underpinning of the differential migration processes that are involved in micro-channel based bioanalytical techniques, like microbore-liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, capillary electrochromatography and microfabricated separation devices. Our fundamental studies on the theory and applications are expected to support the design, preparation and use of new column technologies and stationary phases as well as separation chemistries we plan to develop in the Laboratory. The results of our theoretical studies together with the expertise of the principal investigators in chromatography, column engineering, capillary electrophoresis and microfabricated device technologies will be utilized in embarking on recent bioanalytical challenges, and upon success it is expected to have a great impact on the way in which various diseases will be diagnosed and treated. The advent of microfluidic-based rapid analytical techniques opens up new horizons in the biomedical field as capable of revealing global changes in gene expression at the transcriptome, proteome and glycome level. Our endeavor will be supported by faculty members in collaborative institutions and industrial partners.

Az alapítvány célja

Az alapítvány célja a szabad, illetve nyílt forráskódú szoftverek népszerűsítése, azok honosítása és a magyarországi fejlesztések támogatása által, valamint a célok megvalósítását segítő eszközök felkutatása, támogatások igénybevétele és nyújtása. Az alapítók a „szabad szoftver” kifejezés alatt az alábbi meghatározást értik: Szabad szoftver minden olyan számítógépes program és dokumentum, amely kielégíti az alábbi feltételeket:

* a szoftver bármilyen célra felhasználható,
* lehetőség van a szoftver működésének szabad tanulmányozására és módosítására,
* szabadon terjeszthető,
* lehetőség van a szoftver továbbfejlesztésére és a fejlesztés közreadására.

Az alapítvány célja a szabad szoftverek széles körű megismertetése. Az alapítvány a számítógép-felhasználók részére kíván segítséget nyújtani a lehetséges felhasználási alternatívákkal és azok előnyeivel kapcsolatban.

A fentieken túl az alapítvány támogatni kívánja a felhasználók igényeinek megfelelő szabad szoftverek fejlesztését, ezért létre kíván hozni egy közösen használható infrastruktúrát, amelyet több szabad szoftveres fejlesztőcsapat is használhat.

Az alapítvány tevékenységi köre

A szabad szoftverek megismertetése és népszerűsítése érdekében az alapítvány szervezni és támogatni kíván az ilyen és hasonló témakörrel foglalkozó konferenciákat, előadásokat.

A szabad szoftverek magyarországi népszerűsítésére az alapítvány a fontosabb szabad szoftverek honosítását kívánja támogatni infrastruktúrával és fordító összejövetelek szervezésével.

Azon felhasználóknak, akik szabad szoftvereket használnak, vagy ezek használatára át kívánnak állni, az alapítvány támogatást nyújt, oktatásokat szervez.

Az alapítvány támogatja szabad szoftverek honosítását és fejlesztését. A fejlesztések során informatikai területen kutatás-fejlesztési tevékenységet folytat.
