I have exactly the same problem, and I have posted the question again in regards to my system. Somebody out there must know the answer to this annoying problem :-)
2) Questions and Answers : Windows : Another screensaver problem (Message 31618)

My screensaver only runs for 1 sec. or less, before stopping. There is no mouse or keyboard activity when it stops, and no other screensaver has this problem. I am a bit frustrated and very confused on how to get the screensaver to run. I am running Win XP on and Intel 3.0 ghz processor with 1 gig memory. Any info would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone,
I am running the latest version of BOINC on a Pentium 4, 3.0ghz dual core. I am runnibg Win XP Media Center Edition. I am unable to display any graphics on this computer. Other computers that I am running have no problem. The other systems are not dual-core, and are not XP.
When I manually attempt to run the graphics, sometimes the screen just goes blank, or else I will see the graphics for about 1 second, and then the screen goes blank. In screensaver mode the graphics act about the same way. Usually, however, when the screensaver kicks in the screen just goes blank. This is very frustrating! I am guessing that it is related to the dual-core, however, even when I suspend anything else that is running, I still cannot display the graphics. I have this graphics problem whether running BOINC dual-core, or whether running as a single core. I am at a loss and am wide open to suggestions. Thanks

I posted a similar question earlier, but I think that I may have posted it in the wrong forum. I got only one response (thank you), but I have not yet resolved the problem. I am running the latest version of BOINC on a Pentium 4, 3.0ghz dual core.
I am running to different threads at a time. I have gotten several graphics WU's, however, I am unable to display any graphics on this computer. Other computers that I am running have no problem. I am guessing that it is related to the dual-core, however, even when I suspend anything else that is running, I still cannot display the graphics. I am at a loss and am wide open to suggestions. Thanks

Hi genes,
The display is an Intel 82915g/gv/910gl pci Express Chipset family.(that came directly out of the device manager). I have again tried to get the graphics working, but still no go. I am at a loss.
Thanks also for the link to the thread.

I have a workunit that is 100% completed, is sitting on my little Itel 450 mhz, Windows 98, and will not upload. BOINC report that the WU is still running. Any suggestions? Thanks

Today I received my first two WU's with graphics. The WU's were distributed to two seperate machines, a n Intel 2.6 ghz celeron, and an Intel Pentium 4 dual core 3.0 ghz. The celeron is displaying the graphics perfectly with no problems. However, the dual core will not display the graphics at all. When the screensaver engages, the screen just goes blank. This happens even when I suspend everything else that is running in BOINC. I cannot start the graphics even if I try to do it manually by clicking on the 'show graphics' button.
...thought you might find that interesting.

Also, on a different topic, can you direct me to a page that will explain the screensaver in some detail, along with some of the science involved, so that I can understand what I am looking at. Thanks

Hello to all of my fellow FAD refugees. As odd as it feels to leave FAD, as my computers come to the end of their FAD work units, I am switching them over to this fine project. I will miss the communication and sense of community at FAD, and I hope that Rosetta carries on in that tradition!
